Default Got a notchback Capri - PICs inside

It's technically a '79 stang, but a previous owner evidently decided to make it into a notchback Capri.. I don't think they made any of those though. I don't know a lof about it - it has a V8 (guy said bored 5.0), short tube headers, 4 barrel carb, MSD, some kind of tremec (I think 3550), skinny welds up front and bigger welds in the back, no power steering or AC or heat, and it's a blast to drive. Chirps tires going into 4th. I think it might be faster than my Cobra, but I need to get the breaks fixed before I take it to the track.

Best part of all - the car was FREE! My father in law traded an early 90s Prelude (which needed a new engine), and a replacement engine, for this car and an early '90s Camry. Then he gave me this car.

    Here are the pics:

Thanks. I thought it might be of interest to the members here. I can't wait to take it to the track and see what kind of responses I get there.

Well enjoy it.It may be a Mustang but i love the look of it.It will make people do a double take on it.I think you have a sweet ride. Alot of hard core Capri guys will say that it is wrong, but i like different things. It is suttle but cool.

That "Capri" coupe is pretty slick. Too bad Ford didn't actually produce them; I might like Capris more if they did.

i think they actually did :P

in Mexico, you can get yourself a capri-nosed mustang and a mustang-nosed capri (both are considered as mustangs over there).

I was in and out of Mexico during 1986-1989.
I saw some crazy combos with Capri/Mustang parts down there.
When I asked people they just ordered what they wanted.
I think the Capri/Mustang was made out of the Mexico City Plant or (Chouatitlan(Spelling?)) I stared up a foundry for the engine block department during this time.

The notch Capri is sick. Very tastefully done. I really like the factory like rear fenders. Very, very nice.

And DrSVO, your Svo looks great. Those fender flares look good with Mustang front ends.

Sorry to bring this thread back from the dead, but I did look up the VIN and it's listed as a 1979 Mustang Ghia.

I've decided to keep this car and make it a street/drag car.

Here's a few pics from yesterday:

those look so mean. Lots of work done by previous owner to do that conversion. Saw a guy her in the city that had done the same thing to the front half on a 90's fox.

He also had the RS air damn though to, looked killer

    as does you car!

Yeah one of the previous owners must have put in some hours to get those rear 1/4s like that.

    Thanks for the compliments.

It's going to the shop this week to get some stuff fixed (starting issue, brakes, carb tuned).. Then it's off to the drag strip where I'm pretty sure it's going to beat my buddy's 350Z in the 1/8th mile. I can't wait to see what it runs.
