Default 85 GT Emissions test: It passed!!!!!

After 11 failed tests in a row (yeah I had em check) it finally passed!!!!!

HC was 0.9gpm pass is 4
CO was 11gpm pass is 20
    CO2 was 590gpm
NOx was 2.7gpm pass is 8

the last fixes were bumping the timing to 15 deg ( raised the NOx a bit but helped CO) and jetting down from 62 to 59(altitude correction).

No tricks, no vac lines off, no junk n the tank.

the failed test before this was

    HC 3.7gpm
    CO 51gpm (failed)
    CO2 500gpm
    NOx 1.49gpm

before the swap to a stock cam and carb it was blowing HC at 8 gpm and CO at 85-130gpm

Funny thing is it runs stronger now than it did with the big Erson cam.

You just learned the most secretest of tricks in the emissions repair tech's book, retard the timing It's kind of a dirty trick, but it's done all the time by ERTs. I'll even admitting to doing it myself at times when my repairs bring down emissions to the point that it fails by a little short and curly hair. I retard the timing using a 5 gas analyzer until the emissions are under the failure spec, then run it on the dyno to get the paperwork and put the timing back where it was. Not the most honest of repairs, but it's done all the time on old cars. I feel kinda sorry for the guys who have newer cars, with distrubitorless ignition you can't do that. I gotta get around to posting my smog test cheats for you guys, maybe when I get some free time.

Thank God!!!!!!! I was beginning to think someone put a voodoo hex on your car.

Funny how some people's "mods" actually make the car run WORSE and produce LESS power. I love their mentality; stock=suck, aftermaket= . The ad copy writers have done their jobs well.

Not much of a supprise after I found that cam in the engine.
Put a 310 duration cam in a small motor with stock exhaust and heads.
    Supprise it runs like crap

Before that it was driving me insane.

Now I can start thinking about other things like the body, electrical and interior.
