    Default Flaming River steering shaft

    Hi all,
Has anyone installed a Flaming River needle bearing u-joint steering shaft (goes between steering rack and column):

http://www.flamingriver.com/racks2.htm (scroll down to FR1504 shaft)

Will this shaft work with the stock Mustang steering rack? Its unclear to me whether its made only for the FR replacement rack or will fit the stock Mustang rack.

    Thanks,
    Paul

I bought a Borgensen version of that from Maximum Motorsports and tossed it on my 79 Futura and it fit fine. I plan on tossing it my 85 GT soon.

You should beable to get one for pS or non-PS.

    Marz,
Thanks for the input. Did you have any issues with the steering wheel not being 'clocked' right (centered) with the wheels straight ahead after the shaft install. I read about this at the Maximum Motorsportswebsite but wasn't sure if they were refering to this shaft (1504) or another.

Also is the Borgenssen unit the same as Flaming River unit? Looks the same and has the same pn. Does Borgenssen make it for FR (or vis versa)?

    Thanks again,
    Paul

I belive they're all by Borgensen.

I didn't have a problem with alignment because of the new shaft... though... I did missalign it on my ownand had to pull the steering wheel and align it that way. I'm hoping I'm smarter this time around with the mustang and don't need to do that.

If you want that shaft to keep looking nice you should keep lubing it with LPS or W-D40.

I think the steering wheel clocking problem has to do with using a newer steering rack such as one from an '03 Cobra. If you're still using the ol' Fox style steering rack, you should be fine.
