'86 GT that technically doesn't exist
With Accessory Reserve Load Springs
Accessory Reserve Load Springs...Whooo Hooo!
Thats funny because thats what Isaid from the Start!
they look just like all the pics I've seen in the books but the head rest is missing...
I think If I keep them I'll redo them the same way..
assuming that it was a factory flook...
YES YOU DID!
Here is the rest decoded (you have as close to a triple black vert as you could get in 1985):
11/84 = Approximate build date
1fabp27m5ff133065
1fab = Ford
p = passenger car
27 = Mustang Vert
m = 5.0 (carbed...since you have a manual tranny)
5 = Check Digit
F = 1985
F = Dearborn
133065 = CUN
1c = exterior color = black
66B = Body Code (Coupe/Vert)
A = Vert Roof Color = Black
GA = Charcoal Leather
1 = Tape Stripe Code...don't know
7 = AM/FM MPX Cassette (I imagine this is also premium sound)
Z = 3.08 Locking Rear
2 = 5 Speed Manual Tranny
PPBB = Front/Rear spring codes
1 = Tape Stripe Code...don't know
Dont know?
Dont know what?
Are you saying that maybe my car came with out the tape kit???!!
How would I find out??
I was thinking about complete restoring the car to original considering how easy it would be .
Its all original except for the engine as far as I know..
But the engine I took out , & I still have it & it has matching numbers.
Due to the fact that everything is stock I must assume that the seats are as well why would someone go throught the trouble of removing the head rest & never modifing anything else?..................
Z = 3.08 Locking Rear
HU?
Dont you mean a limited slip?......
I have a Detroit locker in my bronco .....That cant be whats in my stang?
I dont understand...
But you got me kinda excited!
The stereo in its a color matching pioneer tape deck..
does any body know if thats factory?
I did'nt think so But I gotta ask..
No, it came with the tape/stripe
But the code for the colors is an unknown
It's a 3.08 Ford Traction Lok
Your car came with the premium sound package

But what I'm saying is that the Pic in this link
http://www.ascmclarencoupe.com/Liter...hure_12-13.jpg
Shows an LX strip kit ...
It makes no sence that i would have both...
Never mind!!
I know My GT could not of had LX stripping as well as a GT sticker package..
But showing me the LX strips confused me...
I don't see any reason you could not have GT stickers and striping. Check out the pinstriping and stickers on my car. These were taken in the late 80's. There was white pinstriping in the moldings, along with the striping on the body line from bumper to bumper (I guess these are what you are calling the LX Striping), the hood sticker, and the Mustang GT sticker on the hatch.. http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/606903/2 I hope this helps clear things up.Originally Posted by The WebWheeler

No thats not what the Link showed before...
The link was to an LX with a pin strip going along the fender....
Maybe what you got is what it means?
Interesting............
Well I'f I restore this car I want it done right ....& if it had that little strip in the Moulding I'd like to find out about it......
hhhhhhmmmmmm..................
Thanks for your help guys!!!
From my understanding....Originally Posted by The WebWheeler
If you got the GT...you got the GT "sticker package". That would be the blackout hood, GT decal on the rear decklid and blackout trim.
The "Tape" code would mean you also got pinstripes. However, in the spirit of not "assuming" anything and looking through the 1985 Ford Fact Book, the GT package says it deleted the bodyside pinstripes.....so I'm
not sure exactly what that means. Maybe the Tape code doesn't refer to pinstripes in all cases....

I would imagine if you wanted the GT package and pinstripes, they would still make the car....as Mumfts85gt shows that his car had both pinstripes and the GT decals....although I have never met a dealer who won't add or remove pinstripes for free to sell a car.
