Need Help with Vacuum lines

So inturn should i just get a little filter for it to just suck in outside air?

Being that mine's still there, I've never done that. That should work though. There could be one from the carb bowl to the canister to vent excess fumes. Old cars just vented them straight out, but the EPA didn't like that
