No beatings as there was no such animal in 1986.

5.0, 5 speed, no t's or sunroof. My pictures are in my album and my vin is 619449.

Now I can shed a little more info.

The legend started from MM&FF May 1995, page 176, featured the 86 capri owned by Ray Jermyn (the maroon/red over grey Capri posted on page 5). Ray is the parts manager for Northeast Lincon Mercury in Philadelphia. He posts on FEP once in awhile and was a regular on the Corral.

I can scan and get copies of the feature to Skye if needed. I can also scan and post the letter she wrote and was printed looking for the contact info of another 85 GT female owner. Kinky

You're album looks to be empty to me.

Yes, please can you do the scans? You can send them my way too if it's not too much trouble:

Since your vin is on of the lowest we've seen I just want to be 110% sure...please confirm its an 86 with an original v8 (M in the vin).

One million percent sure. I have all the origional paperwork from the origional owner (I am the second owner) including the financing and bill of sale/contract.
1MExxxxxxGF619449. Funny it is low becuase it was purchased 3/9/87 from Earnhardt's in Cottonwood, AZ.

And here we have some more insight into the origin of the legend:

The scans are large and come courtesy of Capriaz.

I wonder if Ray Jermyn started the story and heard it from somebody else.

YEah...after coming up with 16 cars simply from people on this forum...I would say it is busted.

But the vins did kind of show a pattern. A coincidence? Hmmmm.

Maybe I'm wrong but where does it say these were 5.0's?

Just for the record my car was 610788

it was ordered in Oct of 1985 and wasn't produced until 2/19/86. I'm the one that started this rumor on the story I was told by Ford Motor Company. My sales Mgr. kept asking me to change my order to T-Tops or Sunroof. I didn't want to. The owner of my dealership has been on Fomoco boards for years. In Jan. of 1986 he went to Mich. for a meeting. While he was there he asked why they weren't building my car. After a few days they came back and wouldn't tell him why but that they would only build the 96 5.0 Capris with solid roofs that were presently on order. That's where the story came from. Ray Jermyn Sr.

Adding your car in continues the odd pattern. I wonder if there is indeed something to your story. Out of our small list here, we can see a significant gap between 604168 and 610788 (you're car). The other vins (except 1) all neatly come after your car...in fairly even distribution.

Maybe your car broke some kind of log jam? The first two vins in the list were initially part of the fabled "96" only TTop cars?

Or maybe its all a trick of having a small subset of numbers....

In the process of trading some Aero parts for a bubblehatch Capri

I'm told it's an 86, but will have to verify (Doors were locked when I Looked at it, so I couldn't check the DOM)
The car does not have t-tops
I don't think it has a sunroof (Dodn't even notice when I looked at it)

I'll be taking posession of the car later this week & I'll let you folks know.

Er.. If the 96 Sunroof/T-Topless Capri capri thing was JUST for V-8s.. I seem to've missed that part.
Apologies for posting if it is..No, the car isn't a V-8. Just a lowly four.

Just checked on it a few minutes ago & No, it does not have Sunroof.

Yes, that is what we have been tracking. All vins listed were from 5.0 cars.
