Is the steel bumper[not bumper cover] on the 83-84 cars the same as the 85-86 cars. In other words are they interchangable? Thanks

I think they are all the same '79-'86. Some early '79s had aluminum bumpers.
Yes there the same.79 to 86 will work.I think 87 to 93 will work too
you can't save them all. http://members.cardomain.com/dmbryant99
The 87-93 part won't interchange if you are talking about front bumpers, since it doesn't have any turn signal holes. The 79-86 fronts are the same, and the 79-93 rears interchange I believe.Originally Posted by bryant99
'87-'93 use a different 5mph "piston" and have a fiberglass bumper. I have a friend who's converting his '90 to a 4eye so we've been looking at these parts for a few weeks.Originally Posted by bryant99

They are talking about the bumpers, not the bumper covers.Originally Posted by Travis T

I think Travis T is correct. The BUMPERS AND COVERS from 79-86 have turn signal holes in them. 87-93 do NOT. 87-93 also have that plastic cushioning shield behind the cover.Originally Posted by Matt82GT
If you look at the exploded view for 87-93 bumpers and covers vs 79-86 you will see that there is are ALOT of differences between the two. The 79-86 bumper cover may fit over a 87-93 bumper (I don't know) but its going to look weird withought the turn signals.

The bumper covers will pysically swap from 79-86, but the detail in the beltline moulding changed thru-out the years.
I just sold one not ten minutes ago, and we had an 84 to compare with an 86. The only difference was the trim style.

hmmm,ok. I never really paid much attention to the bumpers anyways. I'm just gonna go sit over

The 79-93 rear bumpers and their covers will interchange. I have a '90 rear bumper and cover on my '82.
yes, they bolt on, but there's no way you can get the mouldings to match because they moulding design is acually molded into the design of the bumper, so the only way to make all the mouldings match on your car would be to convert it to aeroOriginally Posted by Clarko
Hmmm. I know there was an 82 in one of the 'Stang magazines that had an 86 front end and a 90 rear bumper and I can't remember how he made it look right... Oh well for now the bumper I have is better than nothing!
