How rare are capri louvers?

I have only seen a picute or 2 of 83-86 capris with the rear window louvers on them. How rare are they and how can I get some? I know they are pretty much impossible to find and they are rarely seen on ebay too. Was there specific years that they were an option? Or did oyu have to orderthem through ford as an extra? The louvers I am talking about are the ones that cover the bubble back glass. Any iformation on these would be greatly appreciated because I someday want to get a set for my car and I am wondering how long I will be waiting!

It was an "accessory" and they are very rare.

The 83 capri that was listed as parting out in NJ had a rear louvers on it.was going to pm the guy but i think the mods took the post down. no pics of damage

Oh yes, they made them....I have posted the Ford part number a few times on this web site.

The link that Fredzilla gave shows the oem ones on a bubbleback.

Well they look cool on the Capri. I got a new set for the 82GT if I ever get to it. I love louvers. Did anyone see the pics of the 05 with them? Instant Sha- WING!!

We bought a car a long time ago which had louvers very similar to this. My son nor I can remember what the car was. The louvers were broken, so we took them off and threw them away.
Who knows, Maybe?

i just bought a set off of a guy i met in a chat room (paid through paypal) his set are NOS he got his from ford in '88 at least he said he did but he showed me pics and he still had the receipt but coundnt read the date but its from ford dealer so hopefully i didnt get ripped other wise there will be hell

I see the GS chrome and almost a "5.0" on the fender.

Is it an automatic?

IF you DO have a 1985 5.0 GS....and bought it from the original dealer....then a lot of us would like to hear the story on why you didn't get the RS (5.0L) version instead.

yep thats a GS 5.0 Automatic. It has 10holes on it now though
I will take more recent photos after I get it cleaned up I am planning on selling it soon.

It is an original 5.0 GS, I purchased the car in 1989, overhauled the engine and transmission in 1995 due to ex-wife who didnt know to stop when she smelled antifreeze and saw steam coming from under the hood on a 95 degree summer day in August. It was repainted in 2000 and thats when the RS hood scoop from a 1993 model jumped on the hood and made a new home
The pictures of it without the louvers were takin the day after I got it home from paint
