Default I Know youve thought about it...

But has anyone done it? I have 2 ideas that id love to do to my fox.

First one (and the less likely one) is to do a complete brake swap from a SN-95. I mean the fronts rears and the entire ABS system. Any of you whove been in a emergency stop in these cars know itd be nice to have better stopping power with the wonderful technology of ABS.

The other and more likely is to put a T-56 6 speed in a fox. i turn about 2500 rpms at 70 with my 3.73s. I would love to upgade to 4.11s or maybe lower but have an extra gear for highway use since mine is a daily driver.

Right now they are just dreams but wouldnt it be cool

Search the tech sections on Corral.net, should be some threads about the T56 swap.

    http://sn95brakes.cjb.net/
This has the brake swap info...but haven't heard anyone swapping the ABS setup, but i'm sure its near direct fit...since its still a Fox based chassis. Might also wanna think about swapping to Hydroboost too.

    OH!

Check here too...I just found this site and it has a diagrham for ABS into a Fox.

If you can find a way to use the ABS setup WITHOUT incorporating the Hydroboost system you will save yourself a LOT of trouble. I absolutely HATE the HB system on my 96GT...

You shouldn't have to have Hydroboost with ABS...but I mentioned it as it is highly responsive on my mom's Astro...you can sneeze on the pedal and the brakes work.

Emergency stopping power? Its more like emergency stopping control. Normal braking systems will stop a car just as fast as an ABS system. Its just that since ABS systems on cars have been introduced, braking systems have improved since the late 80's early 90's giving the false impressions that ABS will stop the car faster. I only agree that ABS may keep the car under control under certain instances that normal brakes wouldnt. Is ABS worth it? Not to me. If it ain't broke......

I agree, its not additional breaking power, however... in a case of a track race you WANT control, a car with ABS will out perform a car with non ABS on a track anyday. If your car only hits the drag, then who cares, if its a daily driver, course racer, or you like a car that can do more then just go in a straight line... then you WANT ABS... if it was as useless as you make it sound they would not make it...

I thought I read somewhere that though the 6 speed is nice, in respect to accelerating you want a 5?? The 6 would be sweet in my opinion.

Biggest thing I see about the 6 is the double overdrive...make big power...but if you do lots of highway...that second OD comes in handy big time.

    I hate ABS .
Its good in snow , but thats it .

The Ohio roads are so bumpy I think it fools the ABS .

I go to stop at a normal speed and if the road is bumpy ,
I get this plastic gear noise .
The vehicle don't stop it keeps going !!!!
    The worst was a S-10 .
The Astros I are not as bad , but still do it too .

Even the full size mid 90s Dodge vans I have driven were funny to .
Nothing better than turning into a driveway when the ABS
    kicks in .
You lose all control of the brakes and don't slow down at all .
That caught me off guard more than a few times .
I wasn't speeding or playing around either .

Someone is going to get hurt if a vehicle can't stop .

How about a on off switch ?

    I don't know about Fords ABS .

    Sorry for the rant .

If your having that much trouble with them I dont blame you for hating them... hell I would be terring them out if I could.

My experience with them is on a 1993 Supercoupe and here in Edmonton.. known for some of the worst roads anywhere and it works great. The other vehicle is a 2000 Cheep Cherokee again I love it.

Im heading down to Ohio next year East Cleveland to be exact I guess I will be able to compare roads then

Ever try bleeding the brakes on a car that has ABS or have a controller go bad? You'll learn to hate ABS really quick. Needs a trip to the dealer to get jacked into that R2D2 looking thing to bleed it corectly. and $$$.

ABS is for the masses who more often then not dont know how to alter their driving/braking styles for different panic or traction limited circumstances. Therefore stopping in a controled manner is more predictable and therefore have a better chance of avoiding accidents. This is why insurance companys give discounts for cars having ABS vs non ABS.

I dont know any racing venue where ABS is used. Even Formula 1 cars dont use it.

I'm doing a 4cyl to v8 swap and also changing from auto to manual trans. If money wasn't an issue I would go with a t56 instead of the t5. But I think it would be for the cool factor than anything else.

the t56 would be extremely cool, and it's definetly been done before, just too expensive for my tastes.....I would leave off the ABS myself though, I agree with Zap, if you know your car and how to drive it, you'll stop just as well with ABS, and save MUCHO dinero.

a good driver won't need abs, and you may even be able to stop quicker. I can't stand the feel of abs, that pulsating pedal. Granted, for weather conditions, you can't beat abs, but I personally would never want abs, I live in cali.

Probably within the next month we're doing an sn95 brake swap onto my brothers 88.

I hate ABS. IMO its like the side-shift on a forktruck, its there for people that dont know how to drive.

Do a search at the corral, I know someone there has ABS on a fox, I think its stangplus2birds but I cant be sure.
