    Default guage hook up help plz

    i'm installing a colts guage to take up some space. all it has is a power and a ground. does the power have to go to the battery or jsut any power wire?

    I assume you meant volt gauge. You want to put it to a switched power source. You don't want it on all the time, right? But any ignition switched hot wire should work, as long as it's a voltmeter not an ammeter.

    i have mine put to the output on the alternator that way i can see what my charging system is doing....

    Whats the diff between the volt/ammeter? I have been told to use a volt meter on stangs. Why? I want to keep track of the power supply and make sure its not running more power than my system can provide. ie run a stereo with a 12 in sub, rewired headlights, and all car stuff including AC. I plan on getting the 3G alt that runs 140 amps. Thanks
