Default Making my own underhood harness!!!

I have given up on getting a diagram from anyone

So I have decide to tackle the underhood harness myself. I ordered the MSD connectors in the 4,6 and 8 pin connector style. I was gonnause the 14 gauge wire for the ignition and main harness. I was gonna use 12 gauge on the A/C and alternator. Anyone have any suggestions? Or comments. Thanks

I'll be completely replacing the wiring on my Pace Car...

I'll be using GM Weatherpack connectors and SXL grade wiring which is pretty much the standard to handle the higher temp underhood heat...

Here's some helpful links on choosing the correct wire gauge...

At the botttom of this link is a Wiring Gauge Table...

I just did this procedure myself. The only thing you really need to know is that the 8-pin square harness and the round ones to the ignition are the only ones you need. The rest go to emissions junk. I have extensive notes......let me know if you're curious about what goes where. I like my Chilton's manual but even they don't give you all the electrical details.

Ok.. Found my PDF files of the Wiring for 79-86... The only problem is I can't find my index file that tells me which PDF goes with which car... So, You'll sorta have to look through them and figure out which is which till I find my index...

    Here's the link...

    I hope that helps...

I also have the same PDF files for 65-98... If anyone needs those let me know and I'll get them up...

Thanks for the PDFs, Mike. My wiring is a mess under my hood as a result of time and a carburetor fire. I bought a new 1985 5.0L H.O. engine harness I found through this board http://www.foureyedpride.com/phpBB2/...ghlight=msd+6a. Now all I need is to find the wiring which runs to it on the main harness with the plugs/connectors. What model of Mustangs will I be able to get them from? I'd like to keep my car looking somewhat factory under the hood.

grtskydog, I second that on your notes. Thanks in advance.

Dear god...since i'm sorta doing this, I went outside and pulled my harness out and tried to untangle it...

The areas with a fabric like tape...that have 2 wires connected to one...aren't even soldered togehter...they use some sort of Voodooo magic to stay together...

Not to mention there is like 4 feet worth of extra wire that didn't even need to be used...yet Ford thought it was a good idea.
No matter where you go, there you are
