    Default Hooking up MSD box.

Im having trouble finding a diagram to hook up my 6al and getting the duraspark out of my car. i've seen this question asked kind of around here but nothing that i was looking for. i have seen diagrams to hook it up through the duraspark but i dont really want to do that. if anyone can help me get the duraspark out and the MSD in i would GREATLY appreciate it.

MSD lists all the instructions on their website available for download.

    http://www.msdignition.com/downld1.htm

Download the instructions for installing (MSD 6 Series Installation Instructions ) and go to page 18 and use the top diagram.

ok so does this mean i can just cut the wires going to the duraspark and just not use it at all? and also do i need to call and get a harness to hook up to the box for my monster tach?

if its a 6al it should have a direct connect for the tach next to the green and violet wires that go to the distributor i wouldnt cut out the old durasaprk because God works in mysterious ways, MSD does have a harness you can use to keep the OEM distributor connection, i just hooked up my MSD box 2 days ago.... no too hard, hardest part was finding a spot for it, so I just bit Mike Croke's idea for his digital box, looks good. I unbolted and saved the duraspark harness, better off that way because you never know. Well if you don't got the wiring diagram its pretty easy to wire up, it may have a diagram on the bottom side of the box. Take it easy.

I needed a tach adapter to use my stock tach. I spent more time making al the wiring look pretty then actually hooking it up.

Unless you're a wiring fanatic, just unplug the Duraspark and remove the box.

Most Autometer tachs will read correctly using the Tach Output on the side of the MSD box. Stock tachs usually require one of the tach adapters.

Is it an Autometer tach? Or some other brand? If Autometer, which model?

You don't need the duraspark if you have the msd you need the red to hot,the black to grond ,and the white wire to the ignition that has power on the start and run position, the aftermarket tach will plug into the bottom rt corner of the msd.

The tach should have 4 wires:

    Red - switched 12V
    Black - ground
    White - dash lighting
Green - tach output terminal on the MSD box.

No plug needed. Just use a generic regular female spade quick disconnect to into the side of the MSD box tach output:
