    Default Rough 86

I just picked up an 86 GT. The guy told me it overheated, blew a head gasket and was gushing antifreeze. It has not been on the road since 2005. I got it fired up and topped off the radiator. It was half full.

I ran it for almost an hour without the radiator cap. It smoked a bit until it warmed up but t cleared up. No signs of any water leaks. Oil looks fine. Radiator was replaced some time ago. I guess I should pull the plugs and check them. I will have to try the cooling system under pressure.

    Any suggestions?

Car has 130k miles and mostly original right down the factory exhaust.

I agree. Put some pressure on it and see what happens.

You can also try out a combustion gas tester.

Agree with pressure testing cooling system and check plugs.

If those items are ok, run it with the cap in place for awhile.

Found a gasket set and new oil pan in the trunk. Maybe next week I will check it out some more.

Sounds like a fun project. Be sure to post some pictures when you get a chance!
