    Default Headlight adjuster replacement help.

    Hi all,
I have been away for a while , life, health and career got in the way.
Anyway, been working on my 84 GT again and one of my upgrades was to upgrade my headlights with a relays.
The lights are much brighter and well worth the time and research.

    Now to the problem:
I wasn’t able to adjust the headlights due to the adjusters freezing up. I ended up totally stripping the Phillips heads.
I bought a new headlight adjuster kit from LMR. It’s a nice looking kit and comes with everything needed to do the job, including the plastic bucket slides.
The problem is, I cannot figure out how to remove the headlight buckets!
I am afraid of breaking or damaging something. The factory shop manual only showed the break down, not the procedure

I am pretty certain that “someone “ on this forum has encountered this and hopefully an shed some wisdom!

    Thanks for any help,

    Scott Peters

The bucket is held in by the 2 adjusting bolts and spring hooked from the backside. Just slip it off the adjusting screws then unhook the spring. This works on the round lamps and should work on the rectangular ones too.

    Thanks for your reply.
I watched a You Tube video showing exactly what you stated on a old Chevy C10.

I problem for me is, with a 84 mustang, I don’t have that kind of room to move/pry anything.
The headlight buckets are so tight to the opening, that I fear doing damage to the bumper cover and side markers.
    There is basically no room.

I am pretty sure the headlight bucket has to come out to change the adjusters, slides and spring.

I have searched and searched for someone who’s made a video, but all I find is headlight replacement and how to adjust them.
I wish LMR had a video on installing their kit.
    Thanks again for your reply,
    Scott
