Default 10.5 clutch in 82 mustang??

I have an 82 with SROD (which I love). It's got an 86 motor in it. I want to get a new clutch.

I assume the current clutch it 10 inches. But I'm unsure. I want to get a new 10.5 clutch.

    I'm eyeballing this: https://lmr.com/item/M7560A302K/must...heel-kit-82-95

Is it going to bolt right in?

Default 10.5 clutch in 82 mustang??

I think you'd have to go to a T5 trans. I don't think the larger clutch just bolts in as a replacement. I don't recall if the issue is bolt pattern or physical size.
    BUT
If your SROD is good and you want to keep it, why not stay with the 10" clutch?
And I could be wrong, so perhaps this post is useless.

Regarding the M-7560-A302 10.5 inch clutch kit, and to quote what I read, "This kit can also be fitted to pre-1986 Mustangs (that came with the 10-inch clutch) when the larger 1986-93 flywheel and extra-duty clutch linkage are also installed".

So, it sounds like it should fit.

That is a nice clutch kit, imo.... I like that it comes with multiple parts and needed hardware. But I'd update some other clutch related parts also. Maybe look into the following:

FPP clutch cable and heavy duty clutch fork...

    FPP clutch quadrant...

    FPP firewall cable adjuster...

Personally, I prefer FPP parts, but this UPR adjuster is just as nice, and less than half the price...

    FPP fork pivot ball stud...

I just chose FPP parts because of your going with their clutch, but those parts are also available from other manufacturers, possibly less expensive, like the firewall adjuster was. Also, nothing special about the sites I link to.... just what came up in my searches.

FWIW I used a 10.5"clutch with an 83 (E3) vintage T5 bellhousing and it fit just fine so I can't see that it would not work with an SROD bell. As mentioned you will probably need the correct flywheel for the 10.5" bolt pattern.

Yea, the flywheel is a definite requirement. The flywheel that came with the 10" clutch does not have the tapped holes needed for the 10.5" clutch install. But that kit he references has the needed flywheel, so he should be set there.

Yes looks like that kit has everything including the dowels required for the 86+ 10.5" setup.

I like that LMR kit..... I spent close to that at the clutch shop having my 83 stock 10" clutch rebuilt......
Did you swap your original flywheel onto the newer 86 engine??

If not the 86 might have come with a 10.5 inch flywheel.....I would suggest taking it apart and checking/measuring if you do not know what you have....
