Default 1982 mustang 2.3l to v8 swap questions!

Hopefully I posted this in the correct section.

Like the title says I just have a question or two! I'm going to be swapping my 2.3l 4cyl out with a efi 5.0 v8 preferably a 89-93 because of the mass air but I don't mind converting a non mass air year 86-88. So my question is what wiring will I need to make this work in a 82 mustang ( engine, body or dash)? The swap seems straight forward as far as needing 8.8, fuel lines, trans, cluster, etc.

I guess what I'm asking is will my 82 body, dash wiring work with a 86-93 motor? Obviously I know the engine bay harness will need to get changed and get a computer for mass air motor etc etc. Can't really find out that info or I'm just not looking in the right place.

Or if I buy a holly terminator x will this work with my stock 82 dash harness?

I also plan to buy a donor car so I'm not having to piece together fuel lines, fuel pump, rear end, trans, brake lines/booster, etc etc

Every guide I have read said you just need the engine/trans harness and that the body/dash wiring can be reused.

But was that for a already fuel injected car?

I'm pretty sure both of these posts and everything I have read when swapping is from a already fuel injected car 86-93. Mine is a 82 and is carbureted and I'm not sure if the wiring behind the dash will work

This boards search engine kind of sucks, but if you go to advanced search in google, put the foureyepride main domain in and then what you want to search for. I searched for "1982 EFI SWAP" and these are the first two pages of what I thought were relevant threads.

There are 100's of build threads also, many from 79 to 85, which were virtually all carbed.
Going to have to dig through a lot of old threads to get every answer, but 99% of it is there

From one of the threads on dash wiring...... My LTD was about the same. Only thing I needed there was
adding wiring from LTD LX in dash tach. Really no other wires from EEC directly to dash guages setup

"side from a MIL ( check engine light ), I didn't have to add anything to my instrument cluster ( dashboard ) for the EFI conversion. I left all the factory car wiring pretty much untouched except where I needed to tap into KO12v and RUN12v. Unless you were going to integrate the 5.0 Mustang dash wiring into the F/Z dash wiring ( and why would you do that if you are keeping the factory dash and gauges ), I don't see the necessity.

Obviously, what you apparently did worked, but I don't know why you had to do as much wiring as you said. I guess I don't understand what you did that was so difficult as far as all the wiring is concerned ?

In my Zephyr, the majority of my dash wiring mods are just to accomodate the 6-gauge cluster from a SVO Mustang, but that wiring would have been necessary even had I left the car carbureted. Even so, the changes were minimal and not overly difficult. If I should ever choose to do so, I could easily return my car back to original with little to no sign of it ever having been fuel injected.

So far I have converted three of my cars to EFI and they have all fired on the first turn of the key and run GREAT ! My 65 Mustang, my 83 Capri RS ( R.I.P. ) and my Zephyr. I'll probably leave the Fairmont carbureted just to keep something "old school" around to tinker with."
