Default Stock Fuel Pickup/Sending Unit 1979 Zephyr Z7

I have searched multiple phrases trying to find a reference for a part number for a stock pickup tube on a Zephyr but I have not seen exactly what I am looking for. My original pickup tube/ sending unit is in bad shape. The tube itself was almost completely clogged with rust. I have found the number “8BF9275AB” on my unit but I can’t seem to find anything when I try to cross reference it. Anyone got a part number that may work for my application? 302/C4/ Z7 Coupe.

    Thanks,

    Ozzzy66

Some info in this thread. Maybe check with brian.aughe to see if he still has Massacre's old sending unit.

I think you are missing a letter off of the front of your part number. I think there should be a "D" at the start of the part number. I'm not sure about the letters after the 8 either. The 9275AB appear to be correct.

Here is another thread by Massacre regarding what he did for his. Probably might not specifically pertain to you since he is EFI with an in tank pump, but might give you some ideas of what you might be able to do to repair your old one.

You could take some measurements of the original and make one if you can't find a store bought solution.
That's what I had to do for my 83 tbird.

Just for the record, my old stock sending unit was non-operational. Badly rusted/corroded and i no longer have it.
I have seen Zephyr carb sending units on ebay, not sure if they would work for this application.
Holley also makes some universal sending units, not sure if they would work either.

Does a Mustang sender not fit? Oh wait- the Mustangs have the fuel supply line and the sender in 2 different locations on the tank, am i correct on this?
Fairmont/Zephyr has the fuel supply and fuel level sender at the same location on the tank?

Here's a new (to me!) fuel level sender from Holley. Looks interesting but probably needs a new hole in the tank plus some tapped bolt holes to make the install. Aside from that it looks pretty neat.

Wish it had been around for my earlier builds...

There are fuel sender correctors now that don't require putting holes into your gas tank, you splice them into the fuel sender wire and can use whatever sender you want.
Tanks meter match is an example but there are cheaper versions.

    1984,

That device appears to be OK if your sender is still functional. In my case it had disintegrated so a complete replacement was needed.

Mine was pretty bad when i pulled it out, there is no one making them for my car so i had to make a new one out of another vehicles unit and find a sender that had similar resistance to put on it.
That device is an option if you find something that "fits" physically but cannot find something with similar resistance value.
