Thread: Intake battle

  1. #1

    Default Intake battle

Difference between the early '83-84 inline turbo intake versus the squared later model intake everyone gets and rotates. Excluding getting and rotating does anyone know why or if the later intake is better? And if city is better how much better and where is a better.

The square intakes get used because they're easy to rotate.

The in-lines purportedly have better torque numbers, but they also retain their longer runners.

You don't need to rotate the intake to run a FMIC.

I used an inline one, because it's what I had, and I like the look better. Been running a big FMIC and have no issues with a non-rotated intake.

I am currently running the inline on mine with a front mount intercooler also . And I didn't wonder if those Runners were longer because low end is more desirable for these little engines in my opinion anyway so I wonder why Ford switched to start with.
