    Default NOS parts online

Not sure if this belongs here, but...

FoxResto.com is cleaning out their warehouse and selling off their stash of NOS parts on ebay. Not cheap, but wouldn't expect them to be....

    Nice set of Marchal fogs....

Fyi - They've added some more items to their sale listing.

A couple of things that caught my eye were an NOS charcoal grey hood decal for 85-86 GT's, and an old (1980/1990's-ish?) Motorsport license plate frame. Again, not bargain prices at all, but worth it (imo) if it's something one really wants and doesn't want a reproduction. Chances of finding the same thing somewhere else would be next to zero, I'd think.

I would have been interested in the decal last year, but my concern would be - is the adhesive any good still? You only get one shot with those things and they are a real treat to apply straight without any bubbles. Godspeed to whoever buys it.

The frame - Yeah, they can keep it for $200.

$600 for the hood decal? Ouch (again). I like genuine NOS Ford parts too, but for that price I would see if I could get a good body shop to paint it on. It's been a while since I've seen one of the genuine Ford hood decals come up on Ebay, but the last time I saw one I think it was in the $150 range.

I've put one on. I used a solution of water and a couple of drops of dish soap in a spray bottle. I sprayed the back of the decal and the hood. Laid it down, positioned it, and used a squeegee to press out as much of the water/dish soap to the edges as I could. There were some bubbles, but after a day in the sun (during warmer weather), it smoothed out nicely and the bubbles disappeared. If there were any bubbles left, you can use a pin to prick them and they should settle down. Just have to be careful not to overwork the water out from under the decal with the squeegee or you risk the chance of ripping it.
If they take my stapler, then I'll set the building on fire...

The age of the adhesive on that decal was a concern for me also. If I knew for sure it was going to work fine, I'd take a second look at it. And my limited experience with decals taught me an application lubricant is absolutely needed, as tbirdman pointed out.

And yea, that frame is real pricey... but it's listed as obo also. Thinking about throwing them a more reasonable (to me at least) offer. See if they bite.

I've got a thing for NOS and Motorsport items. I've overpaid for multiple NOS and Motorsport items over the past couple years. And I've got a handful of Motorsport parts for my car that were purchased back in the 80's and 90's, back when they were actually current. Most were installed and used at that time, so some have wear and tear on them (ie; valve covers), and others are like new (ie; 160 mph speedo). And some are still in their original boxes, unused.... waiting to be installed.... on what I plan will be a (mostly) period correct restomod.

I’m visiting Charlotte this week and popped in just to see the place east near Concord.

I saw the licence plate frame, Marchal lights and the 93 exhaust (the place was a bit messy as they are “reorganizing”.

They said the frame was taking offers but I don’t think they would have liked my offer so didn’t even bother.

Personally underwhelmed by the place but the NOS stuff is so cool and rare (and pricey) I wonder where the heck they find it.

Yep, I hear Matt is getting out of the parts business and focusing on service only. He's been collecting parts from Ford dealerships for quite some time.

That’s what Della there was saying; they were getting more into the restoration and working on the cars more than anything. All a bit overpriced IMO but maybe someone will pay their prices.

My car isn't perfect, but it is my pride and joy.

So...I'm a sucker. I've been picking up FMS trim/accessories and this was on my list. Absolute stinger price for what it is....but I'll never have to worry about it again. Buy once cry once.

So far I've got: quarter window decals, oil cap, intake plaque, fender cover, spark plug dividers, H-Pipe, 140 Speedo, a sticker for my 'documentation binder', and now....The plate frame. If I can find the courage to DIY, I'll pick up a set of FMS headers this winter too.

A little birdy told me that the frame will not fit in the Fox/Mustang opening on the car. So I might just leave it sealed and see if anyone wants to trade trinkets at a swap meet this summer or try and re-sell it to get my money back.

Learn something new every day I guess.

Interesting. Kinda hard to properly restore a car without the right parts. I am working on my third SVO for MCA concours class, it is always a challenge to find nice original or NOS parts. The reproduction market continues to expand, but a long way from having everything available. I continue to pick up stuff even if I don't need it today, just because when "their gone their gone".
