Default 83 turn signal lever questions?

My 83 GLX turn signal lever has seen better days.....
I have found a 84-86 lever that looks like mine.... Looked up the switch and Standard has the same switch for 82-85 cars? Maybe even more years share it, but these years are what I looked up......

Woulld this lever fit my car/turn signal switch?? Thanks for any help

I believe that up to 83 the turn signal lever was also the horn button. You pushed in to blow the horn. Is that how yours is?

The Ford part number for the turn signal lever for 83/84 without center horn blow is E3DZ 13305-A. Here is that part number, OEM FORD NOS turn signal lever, on Ebay...

The picture of that lever is not the same as mine.... Mine has a picture of a horn on it and this one does not and there is no mention of it being the horn lever in the description? I will do some searching with that number and see what else pops up....
    thanks

That is the part number listed in the final 1993 '80-'89 Ford car model years parts book. It may not be exact because the original part number may have been superseded by the E3DZ part number and the original part discontinued by Ford. Or it could mean that the seller has the wrong part in the right box. That happens quite often on Ebay when these sellers are buying large discontinued part stashes from dealerships and then selling the parts without knowing what they are.

I used to have an 83 Mustang GT. I seem to remember there being a horn symbol on the end of the stalk. Like this one, from the 83 brochure...

Take a picture of your turn signal stalk and post it here.

This site will not let me post pictures on it.... I am looking at my lever and it has the horn ( Trumpet) insignia on it with an arrow pointing towards the column... I might leave a message to the seller on Ebay...... thanks again....

I contacted the seller on ebay and he said no horn markings... He also told me the part # was 13303, not 13305....
Thanks for the part # and the info....
PS... I bet this lever would work, just no markings on it?? What do you think?

Default flash to pass function or not?

To confuse things more, another function built into different versions of multifunction switches is flash to pass.
And Rock Auto catalog shows an overlap for 83. Car could have either flash or no.

Recommend buying a brand-new switch exact fit for your car if anything, for safety.
    Rock Auto has listings 20-40.00.
Got one once at the u-pick yard from a Fairmont. Cheap, worked fine but was never tight like new.
Finally broke. Current one is red plastic/aluminum from AZ, lifetime warranty, feels solidly built.
Flash to pass versions look the same as non. Instead of red have a white, yellow, black, gray, plastic housing piece.

Early cars switches did not have flash or wiper capability, only horn, ts, brights.
Using flash to pass is the same stalk movement as hitting the brights, only stalk is pulled 1/2 way so not to latch it.

My 79 has a non flash to pass switch.
Nothing happens until stalk is pulled back all the way to latch the stalk, which then turns the hi-beams on.
Another full pull on the stalk unlatches the stalk and turns off hi-beams.

Am under the impression there is not a complete interchange between switches or else that fact would be listed. Prob diff wiring.

Stalks, by design, can be yanked out and transferred to another switch without damage. New switches do not include new stalks.
Lettering can be refreshed with a fine point sharpie.

As far as the turn signal lever, there are other Ford turn levers on Ebay from around the early to mid 80's that are similar and have the horn symbol on them. Here is one, part number E3FZ 13305A...

    https://www.ebay.com/itm/15533023432...3ABFBMnLHX19Vh

That listing is for an Escort/Lynx turn signal lever. Now what I will say is that I can't guarantee that it will fit in a Mustang. What I do know is that according to the Ford parts list, the Mustang and Escort have the same part number Turn Signal Switch/Mounting Plate (the part that mounts to the steering column and that the turn signal lever installs into) listed as a replacement part. So it would make sense that the turn signal lever should work in both the Escort and Mustang, but?...

It's also a lot of money (at least I think so) to spend on a turn signal lever.

$69 + $17 for shipping... And I thought parts were going to be cheaper and easier to get than the 67 dodge I restored.... LOL ... A bit too much for me too...... Thanks for your help though... I do think that would work as you say.... If it was $25 like the others, I would probably get it....
The lever on my car is not all that bad... It does have a crack in it so I have concerns it might let go in the near future.....

I checked rearcounter.com and there are quite a few places that show they have it in stock...

    https://www.rearcounter.com/E3FZ-133...arts88559.html

You could give one of them a call or shoot them an e-mail for a price.

You can always keep an eye out too on Ebay for that part number, E3FZ 13005A, and see if another comes up.
