Default Shipping a fender - Alternatives now that Greyhound Express is closed

Now that Greyhound Express stopped their operation in September of 2022, anyone used a reasonable cost, alternative solution? UPS and Fed Ex Ground is ridiculous. Estimated $350 to ship a fender from IL to MA.
    Thanks, Mike

Go to your local freight shipping company. Some will deal with individuals.

I'm guessing a freight company will want it on a pallet. That would be a PITA.

Uship is an option I guess. It's just stupid since it's 1 fender. Maybe someone will want to stop if they have a partial load and pick up 1 fender.

Last fender (new China rip off) I had shipped to me was off eBay. It cost $98 and had free shipping (2020). Went there just now to see cost and those fenders now list for $222.00 free shipping.

Yep, shipping costs have double in a lot of instances. They have the fuel surcharge, the rural address charge, oversize charge. It's like the airlines, nickel and diming you.

Try Fastenal. I think they will require a pallet too, but they were reasonably cheap to ship before. They only ship continental divide to the east or to the west so can't go cross country with them, but should be able to do IL to MA.

Freightquote.com is another one I have used recently for larger, heavier shipments. Most of the time it's Fed Ex freight that ends up doing the shipping, but the pricing through Freightquote is better than Fed Ex will give me directly. If you set up an account they will generally send you a coupon for $50 off frequently. Good Luck!

It would be cool if something could be set up between members for transporting items like fenders, bumper covers, quarter plastics, etc... I'd rather throw a member some cash instead of getting overcharged by a shipping company. Not really sure how to organize such a thing though.

I took a mini trip to Nashville last weekend. I would've gladly brought something down or back if logistics could have been worked out. I created a thread to try to open it up to someone. I'd be glad to help out in the future on another trip too
