"Can I bring a Fox chassis car with a non-Ford motor to the event?"
"No. Only Ford powered vehicles will be allowed at the event."

This is the best thing I read about the show.
There are too many car shows that let Caitlyn's in.
Lots of FREE F/Z info on my site.

Thank you for the heads up. Bookmarked the site.
Will be going most likely Saturday weather permitting. Thinkin less turnout Friday as it is a workday.
One of the few shows to consider entry fee to show the car due to the specific nature of it.
Always a pleasant, friendly, and interesting car show there on Ford WHQ grounds.
Never know the who's who that show up with cars or just walking around there.

Default NPD parts is not far away from FWHQ

NPD in Canton is not far away and a excellent opportunity to pick up those parts like fenders that cost a lot to ship.
Store is about 12 miles west just N of Mich Ave and next to I-275.
Michigan Ave is the via. Mich ave runs right past FWHQ and past the Bronco truck plant in Wayne.
Mitch's party store is across the street from MTP. Ford worker lunch approved has good pizza.
NPD is a few miles away.
Michigan Ave is known to have some of the lowest fuel prices in Detroit area.

FWHQ has a big parking lot in a very cool spot. Located not far from where DAP was, like a couple miles NW.
An unofficial FEP 'car club' meetup?
Was thinking of placing something easily visible on the car saying 'FEP member GR79' so others will know.
Will be a very special opportunity to more easily meet other members in person and check out the cars.

Covered or shaded spots are limited and a good choice. Can get hot out there. Bring chairs, coolers, etc.
Google, Bing maps, satellite view, shows the deal.
Any shows there always have plenty of portajohns. Always a chance of a passing shower so prepare.
Is very close to the great Henry Ford Museum, Dearborn truck plant tours.
Dearborn is a safe area west of Detroit city limits and well kept. Older suburbs are to the N, W, S. newer ones further out.
'Wild West' Detroit is to the east. Do not recommend going anywhere there especially at night. Inkster is poor too.
Lots of much safer and fun entertainment can be found around Metro Detroit.

The famous M1 Woodward Ave (annual Aug. Woodward Dream Cruise and Mustang Alley) is 1/2 hour away via eway, lots of cruisers out there on weekends.
Sit with car and watch. Fri evening and all day Sat, Sat eve., is prime time.
13-15 mile Road mark is the hot spot with free parking few feet off the ave. Food avail everywhere.
Weather permitting, no doubt will be my destination after the show. A double header.
Woodward Ave. is the traditional border marker 'separating' east and west sides of suburban Metro Detroit.
There are several motels out there but many more newer chains are along I-275 north of Michigan Ave, or in Warren, Roseville along I-696.

Default Metro Detroit is still the Motor City

Detroit is north and west of Canada, separated by the Detroit River and Lake St Clair.
Many OEM HQ buildings are scattered in town.
Main roads, running east/west, grid the suburbs like a ladder in ascending numbers south to north.

Two best roads for weekend cruising are:
M1 Woodward Ave between 11 mile road north to 15 mile road. Mile roads run east/west.
M3 Gratiot Ave north of 8 Mile to 16 mile. New pavement. Eastpoint, Roseville, Clinton Township.
Metro Beach in Harrison Township on Lake St Clair is the best. Is at the east end of 16 mile.
GM Tech Center is in Warren at the 12 mile mark and M-53. Several auto plants in the corridor. including Ford axle.
Main xways are I-696 autobahn, congested and rebuilt I-75, I-275 with 6 mile road speed traps, I-96, Southfield.
Currently, I-96 thru Wixom-Novi is being reconstructed and has backups most of the time. No big deal.
I-94 goes thru Detroit. Anywhere in Detroit is no place to get a flat. Crazy speeding drivers, road rage shootings.
E/W 8 mile road (yup is the movie one) is the n/s border between Detroit and the suburbs. Stay north of it.
Fort Street downriver is a nice road to cruise.
Lake Pointe Yacht Club (its a bar) in Livonia has been a very popular spot for years good food. A gold mine.
Is linked to FWHQ via Hines Park Drive, a free beautiful 40 mph 10 mile ride and a great west side cross town shortcut.

This would be cool. We could always exchange contact information or get a group text going once the date approaches. If we have a bunch of 4EP folks going, we should definitely make it a point to do so.

I'll probably leave the west side of the state early Saturday morning and arrive to the show around 8-9am. Who knows when I'll leave...I was planning on a solid day trip and heading back in the afternoon, but a hotel isn't out of the question for Saturday night depending on the vibes. The casino downtown Detroit has a free parking garage and is a great Uber/walking point for pretty much anything you'd want to do.

696 autobahn is an understatement. Really, 75, 275 and 94 all the same. I'm shocked how fast everyone is driving whenever I visit. If you are doing less than 75, you better be in the far right lane.

Same. Just driving down in Carolina you almost get run off the road if you aren't doing 90. I remember in the 1980s, you'd almost get run off the road doing only 55 mph, but today is far-worse.

[QUOTE=Bryan Knebworth;1950126]gr79, you are going to have to let us know how it goes since you are in Mich!

Will do. Anything in particular? Pics mostly. Overall, interior, engine, slick custom work.
Ford did a group pick on a grassy sloped area at the Dearborn test track of almost every Mustang attending in 1984 20th event.
It was a 1/2 circle panorama from a distance with Ford VIPs standing together and owners by their cars.

The show site is about 30 miles from house. Been there many times, no special advance planning needed schedule wise.
Never have been disappointed. Total Ford vibe out there. Dearborn is Ford Country. Other parts of town are noticeably GM and Mopar.
The big one is Annual Mustang Memories show Sunday day after the August Saturday Woodward Cruise day.
Have seen rare famous cars from FMC show collection and private owners. 1st Mustang sold, milestone Mustangs, the 67 Bullett.

If one stays overnite highly recommend going out to M1 in Royal Oak later with chairs until 10p or so. Very relaxing and plenty to see.
Is not a work night so elders, mid, and young hang out. Royal Oak PD are out there, are savvy to wild behavior but tolerate gatherings.
Area has cruising history back to the 50's. Out of state and Canadian plates are common.

Prefer center or slow lane, depending on traffic. 55 city, center. 60-70 urban. Center at interchanges. Rarely need hammer lane for passing.
Is now easier to drive 65 with a classic. Is almost expected, as if car is always on show. Others can get a good look if they want.
On cruise days, many hot rods and stock classics are doing 55 headed out and back home. Usually are older owners and dare go that fast.

Did not realize Mississauga is as easy to spell as Mississippi once you remember the trick taught in elementary school.

Ha- practice reading speedo in mph when in the states from Canada.

Border crossings add additional travel time. All trucks must take the Ambassador or Blue Water Bridges.
Cars can cross using the bridges or Detroit/Windsor tunnel. Detroit end of tunnel is next to GM WHQ downtown.

Four hours is more or less 200 driving miles. About the same from Detroit to Dayton or Lordstown OH.
    Have done both.
Drove the Mustang once to NYC and back 5/82. Two week vacation. Low back seats were surprisingly comfy.
Drove most of the distance via I-80. First and last 100 miles via I-75.
Low fuel LED lit near Lordstown area, the first planned fuel stop near a large city with a choice of brands and prices.

Dearborn downtowns and the car show's main road is M-12 Michigan Ave.
Michigan Avenue starts in downtown Detroit center and runs mainly SW on a compass.
Detroit is laid out like a wheel, downtown the hub, main routes are 'spokes'.
Michigan Ave is one of them it parallels I-94. No east or south spokes. Canada is there.

Dearborn has two small downtowns east and west of Ford WHQ, which is in the middle of both.
The older downtown Dbrn is real Middle Eastern. The west most one is mainstream USA. Both are clean and safe as any.
Buddy's Pizza, in 'mainstream' end is a great summer place to dine. Nearby a few blocks west is the BP known for low prices.

    A must see:
-Can be done easily the same day as the show and is nearby: the Ford Rouge Complex.

Right at the junction of Mich Ave. and i-94, is Miller Road.
If you turn south onto Miller Road, can drive past the massive Ford Rouge property in all it historic glory.

DAP Mustangs were and now F-150 are built in about the same ground location off Miller Rd.
The best drive route is to 'circle' the plant. SB Miller, WB Dix, NB Schaefer, with best overlook from Rotunda Dr. About 5 miles total.
Prob best is CCW turning off Miller on the bridge onto WB Rotunda Dr. This way Rouge is on the drivers side.
See the Rouge River and Ford ore docks, steel plant, railroad action. Big time industrial areas.
Have driven the route many times on the cars birthday in October. Have done a burnout by the old DAP Miller gate to celebrate.
Any map can show what am talkin about.

Thanks for the tips. I know how to read mph very well. I also work as an electrician so I am used to reading in imperial. I have always had a Ford car to drive in my life.
