Default Fuel Pump Question - 1985 GT

So I have a 1985 GT was a CFI car a very long time ago. The fuel pump went out on me yesterday.

I want to order a new pump and tank, can anyone tell me what pump I should be purchasing.

I am reading that the CFI cars came with two fuel pumps, I see LMR sells a kit converting it to one. Should I tear it down and see what I have before I order a new one?

Thanks in advance for the advice.

Do you know which died? I am sure it's the high pressure pump under the car. If I were you I would just go for the 86 in tank pump and just remove the under car pump. No clue which in tank pump is best ...

Thank you for the reply, the in tank pump died. I am assuming it still has the CFI unit and tank in it, so I did what you mentioned. I ordered a new CFI tank and pump. I do have a regulator installed as well, so I guess I can reduced the pressure. I am not very well versed in fuel systems so I am learning. Thanks again.

Walbro fuel pump have generally had a good reputation.

AEM fuel pumps are newer option, but the reviews seem to be pretty good. Hoping they are correct since I just bought one for a 2004 F150.

The 1984 CFI cars had a low-pressure in-tank pump and a high-pressure pump mounted under the car. Not sure if the 1985 CFI cars were this way or used a single pump in the tank.

Regardless of that, I used a fuel pump assembly for 1986-up in my 1984 tank using all of the factory fittings. I then removed the high-pressure pump from under the car. It works just like it was factory installed and was a very easy conversion.
