Not done yet but I bit and ordered the 5.0 Resto TRX wheels from LMR. They’re on sale until Friday.

Mocked up the new intake tubing. Not sure if I'll stick with this setup, curious to see if it yields any gains compared to the stock intake with K&N panel.

    Default ice is not nice

Tarped the Mustang before predicted ice storm event Wednesday.
Massive ice storm knocked out power here for 40 hours.
Needed more bundles of firewood for fireplace.
Would have taken the Ranger but left the ds window down a bit and the seat bottom got wet.
So the Mustang got the honors of easily transporting a shopping cart full of firewood from Menards (8 bundles).
Rear seat was down as usual but forgot to cover the carpet and bits of wood need to be vacuumed up.
Darn it got the car dirty driving on wet roads too. All is well.

New fuel filter and hood latch - Winter tune up items are all set and she's ready for spring.

New hood latch solved the slight slop that was present. Very happy with the outcome. Everything is nice and tight and lined up as it should be.

    New gremlin:
The clutch pedal has a bit of a "click" or "pop" when about 75% depressed. It went away last time on it's own.....but it's back.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what to look at for this? I thought about maybe taking the drivers seat out and replacing the clutch cable with a firewall adjustment and new metal quadrant:
    https://lmr.com/item/LRS-7553A/82-95...utch-Cable-Kit

However - I'd rather not get into that mess if I don't have to. I've also read I could pop the dust cover off the tranny and spritz some silicone lube towards the ball stud on the fork.

The board's infinite wisdom is welcome here. If it wasn't for this little thing driving me nuts, I'd be all set for now.

    Cheers.

Installing an adjustable cable/quadrant/adjuster kit is quite easy. The solid consistent pedal is way worth it.

I appreciate the voice of reason.

I watched a few videos on it, and it indeed doesn't look bad at all....fairly inexpensive too.

I need to get back to it and see if I can trace the sound/feeling a little closer to the source before I jump in. I did do some tugging and light pushing on the clutch cable under the hood, thinking it was the speedo cable while I did my cluster LED's....Which ironically is when I originally noticed it now that I think about it. I'll play with it again and see.

Sticking with the theme of the thread:

Had clicking once on the Mustang like that.
Turned out one of the clutch fork's prong retainers was broken off cocking the fork on the pivot ball.

When the trans was out, replaced the fork, t/o brg, and greased the ball with wheel bearing grease.

Very heavy wet snow event today right now 6"+.
Tarped the car yesterday. Noticed tarp was smaller than i remember.
Today remembered i stored the larger new Mustang tarp in a patio storage bin.
So the car got the Ranger's cab tarp, and the Ranger got small old leftover tarps for cover.

Installed some original Ford Motorsport spark plug wire looms under the hood. The seller sent me a total of 4 packs and I only used 1.5. Nice little touch IMO. I kept the other two packs sealed and might bring them to Motor City Fox Fest as a little trinket to give away or trade…..or…give them away/sell them here on the boards if anyone is interested. They’re blue.

I also twisted myself under the dash to look at the clutch quadrant/pedal/cable trying to track the clicking noise a little better. Turns out I believe it was just the cable. I hit a few spots with some lithium grease and felt the cable when the pedal was depressed. It’s not clicking anymore, so I think whatever I did helped out. Maybe I’ll replace the cable once the weather gets nicer, it’s good for now and I can rest easy knowing it’s not a big deal at all. It’s. Tad tight/old and makes a little bit of a creaking sound, but it’s no longer making a gnarly pop….must have just been binding up somewhere.

I’m running out of things to do now…anxiously awaiting spring

Ordered a couple of these, I heard they add +/- 5HP a piece

    https://www.saleenperformance.com/pr...saleen-mustang

Not sure where I want to place them.

Rear window near the roofline, maybe the 1/4 windows? Toolbox? Hmm....Maybe trim the Ford logo and just leave the "Motorsport" part....Decisions decisions...

Does anyone have a recommendation for an OEM style clutch cable replacement? I sleuthed some threads and found the Maximum Motorsports part to be highly encouraged, but it looks like they aren't available. I'd like to have one on hand, just in case.

    Quadrant issue? Cracked? Guessing...
My 79 has no quadrant thing. Has double nuts for clutch adjustment at the fork end.
Requires getting under the car but is one adjustment that lasts for years.

    Rock Auto lists 6 cables.

Went with Pioneer brand a long time ago and still works fine. Have a spare under the drivers seat.
Common wear parts are nice to have on hand. No worry getting the correct parts when the time comes.

Today I replaced the thermostat. Kind of an unnecessary job, but I needed to wrench or I was going to burst, and I actually managed to fix a coolant leak that had been bothering me since the last half of summer.

Now if it would only warm up in Minnesota, I could actually go and drive this wonderful car of mine...

Not on the actual Fox yet per se ...
Building a new motor for the Granada. I want a roller cam block, 1-piece rear main instead of my 1970 2-piece flat tappet block. Shop is clearancing the block for the 347 kit. I hope to have it home by next week and start assembly. Maybe I will start a thread on the build just for fun.

Investigating how to make the rear wiper intermittent.
Was driving during snowfall yesterday. One speed wiper is annoying. ( Little hard to reach the knob too. Have to lean forward.)

Finally have the correct size blue tarps on the car and truck for recent snow/ice/rain events.
Covered all glass, cowl vents, hood gaps on the car especially near the battery.

Bought inexpensive lawn chair foam cushion for the car driver's vinyl seat. Being loose makes it easier to twist in/out of car.

Bought 2x FL1-A for spring oil changes on both at WM. What is in them? Now they cost $10.
Looks like conventional oil has disappeared from store shelves. The 'better' oils seem to make oil pan gaskets leak more.

Installed a fan shroud and new thermostat housing gasket yesterday after the previous gasket I installed decided to leak again. I think it was because that gasket had adhesive on one side, and I assumed it was sealant so I didn't apply any to that side, but I don't think that would have helped, as when I took it all apart, the gasket readily separated from the plastic adhesive layer.

Anyway, started her up today, and no leaks so I'm hopeful this is the end of that saga. By the look of the weather, I'll be able to drive her again next Saturday, so I'm looking forward to that now!

A new speedo cable and some steering rack limiters because I threw on my newer 18" rims and a spacer on the fronts so the tires rubbed on the chassis and had to trim up some plastic to clear the tires. I just got some full length chassis stiffeners and will get them welded on at the same time I get my exhaust pipes re-welded oh and passed the california smog test (with the new 347)Name: thumbnail (5).jpg

I haven’t posted in quite a long time, but yesterday my son and I pulled the engine and trans out of our 85 capri RS. Then we stripped the engine down. Taking the block to the machine shop tomorrow.

Drove it Friday afternoon on clean roads to run errands.
Got two thumbs up. Car makes people smile. Seeing old cars driven in winter is a rare sight.
Ran over a deep strip mall driveway chuckhole. Was doing only 5 mph lucky but still.
Carpet is drying out from leaving the ds window down a bit in last weeks rain.
Tool tub behind d seat on floor caught most of it but soaked tools and gloves.
Floorpan by pedals was dry. Have a towel temp. stuffed above the kick panel to catch a drip from somewhere.
Been checking battery voltage before first start. Been plugging in the onboard trickle charger. 12.8v.
Console low fuel light keeps coming on with 1/2 tank, eventually goes out after driving a bit.
Not complaining though that display is 44 years old and still works fine.

Drove it again today 16 miles.
Mail a letter at the post office.
Stopped in a DQ for the first day of spring free cone.
Noticed the driveway chuckhole at the strip mall is patched. Could use another bag of patch.
Battery voltage 12.8v measured with vtm at cigar lighter before first start.

Boy police patrols were heavy Friday St. Pat day.
Of the ones seen, cruising in 2 packs, parked near intersections. No doubt radar units were around hidden.
