    Default 83 GT vin discrepancy?

My Grandson just purchased an 83 GT project car that is complete (non running) but appears, with my un-trained eye, to be fairly original, carb looks to be replaced.
It is equipped with a 5.0 four bbl and 5 speed. Here is the issue. The vin says it’s a 2.3 turbo car, W code, built in 8-83. Very late production if I remember correctly. I’m sure it’s possible that the engine could have been replaced but there is no indication that it was turbo equipped.
Thought about a Marti report but before I do I wanted see what you folks had to say.
    Thanks, Kelly Lane

Does the VIN on the door tag match the firewall VIN (visible through windshield) and the buck tag?

I see several things that would have been a turbo, vacuum tree, holes for the vain air meter, coil is mounted in the wrong place for a V8, plastic piece that goes across the firewall is for a turbo.

Vin matches the door. Looks like whoever may have converted the car went to the trouble of removing all the turbo badging. Nothing in the interior, no boost gauge.

The outside decals tell me TurboGT as well. Great catch by KCoker as well!

There is no boost gauge, just a light on the dash(left of steering wheel, 3rd one down).
Was having the schrader valve right near the vacuum tree/ wiper motor instead of the hole in the plastic cover for it common?

Found the boost light, mystery solved, must be a Turbo car!

    Thanks for everyone’s help.
