Default Anyone making custom long tubes anymore?

I'm not sure if this it posted in the right section, so I'm sorry if its not.

I've been looking for a set of good long tube headers for my car (not just standard BBK or Mac), however, everywhere I look, all the header companies are out of business?

I've contacted CPR, RCI and that D&D company and they all no longer make headers any longer, American Racing Headers is the last compant left that I can find online but I would prefer not paying like $1500 just for some headers. Anyone know of a company out there? Maybe a used set for sale?

My guess is the EPA put them out of business.

That's unfortunate, the idea was to get all my exhaust parts together so that I'm not screwin' around sourcing parts while its in storage and I can work on it. Guess I'll have to wait and see if a nice pair of headers comes up, or fork out $1500 for some american racing ones

I would make sure you actually need them first. Engine masters has some good data on that.

Would you mind clarifying what you mean by that?

I plan to purchase TrickFlow 11r 190 heads and a tfs 2 cam. I know its not some nuts build but I figured that I'm going to need a new exhaust when i do these as the stock headers are crimped down to pinholes, I don't want to fuss with shorty headers so I just figured I'd get some 1 5/8ths long tubes. I've been doing my reading and I want to buy a really good pair once, rather than a meh pair 3 times.

To be honest those no name ones look to be the best ones, what I want to avoid is the ball and socket joint because apparently that narrows it down to ~2 1/4 which is no good for me. I'm looking at this as buy the right thing once instead of compromising and then being let down, leading to just buying what I wanted/needed in the first place.

I know someone will say "just buy shorties", and I did. They don't fit and it was a bitch trying to install in the first place, why go through the hassle for 6hp?

Mine fit fine. Long tube create there own issues. I simply meant that unless your looking at 7k pulls and serious drag racing, you might be better served with something else. Like I said, engine masters has done extensive work on the impact of longs vs open vs shorties vs cast iron logs. Worth looking at before you pull the trigger.

The no name ones are made by Doug's, you can find them elsewhere under that name.

I went back and forth on these and ARH, ended up ordering the ARH's today

Honestly, I've been contemplating the last few days and I think I'm gonna go with ARH. But I'm going to wait to build the engine first over the winter, then do the whole exhaust.

I know it's going to cost an arm and a leg but I really just want to buy them once and have them last, its great too how the guy who makes them said he tucks it as close to the floor pans as possible, I drive my car daily and don't want to worry about scraping.

I've bought cheaper options in the past and regretted it so I'm going to give stainless a try. ARH seems to have very good fitment on other models but I haven't been able to find much on foxbodys.

They're 8-10 weeks out but once I get them in and installed I'll try to report back on how it goes.
