Default Joining again after ~20 years!

    Hey everybody!

Just wanted to drop in and introduce myself.

I had an 86' Capri 5.0 as my first car when I was 15-16 years old, and regretfully asked my dad to sell it (so I could drive in the winter) shortly afterwards. I have been wishing and on the hunt for another similar car for years.

In fact - I believe there may be a member here on the forum lurking somewhere that purchased that very car. If you purchased a red 86 Capri with an automatic transmission in West Michigan ~20 years ago, let me know!

Well. I finally found something and pulled the trigger.....an 86' Mustang GT 5-Speed in Canyon Red that's in better condition than I could have ever imagined. The wait was well worth it.

I'll post some photos in another section of the forum shortly, but I just wanted to say I'm glad to be back. I can't wait to dig through these pages and pick your brains!

    Cheers!

Well, I'm that guy that bought your Capri back then and still have it. Had the car repainted earlier this year in the factory colors.
Your new purchase looks awesome, can't wait to see it person someday.

    Welcome to the forum.

    Thanks Zen!!

Wow. It makes me super happy to know that it went to someone that has appreciated and cared for it so well through the years. What are the odds? I was just a 'kid' at the time, but I treated that car with white gloves and knew it was something special even back then. I couldn't tell you how many times I washed and waxed it in the driveway.

The 86 I just picked up could definitely use some paint work. It looks good when you're standing 6 feet away, but up close there's definitely some 'checking'. The jury is out whether I'll have it painted at some point. I think it adds a nice patina for the time being.

PS - I have something for you that I've held onto all these years
