    Default Speedo Cable Removal

I'm removing the SROD from my 79 PC. All has gone well till I tried to remove the speedo cable at the trans. The retaining bolt is out, the clip is pulled away. I was expecting a firm tug would dislodge the cable....no such luck. I tapped the cable with a screw driver and sprayed it with WD40. Still no luck. Any ideas? What am I missing?

I was able to get the cable out, I had some corrosion and dirt. Penetrating fluid and tapping it helped.
