Default What other tail housings fit '81 Granada?

Got rear ended. Both housings broke. Want stock tail lights that fit the factory 1981 Granada body/lines. Zephyr? Fairmont? What years/models will bolt on to my '81?
I have a wanted ad posted, but will use a different assembly if they fit.
The passenger side is toast, the driver side I could just replace the lens, but I want them to match.

    Thanks!

I've got a pair of Fairmont housings. I'll take some measurements on the morning. Shame about your car.

    Lemme guess: Toyota?

this option I stumbled upon a week or so ago digging through old threads. Might be easier to find one of these panels and it looks interesting IMO. Just an option for you! Sorry to hear about your car.

That Lincoln rear light is interesting for sure and looks kinda cool, but I would prefer more of a stock look. Thanks for linking that!

Mike - you still have those Fairmont lights? They are obviously different but I love that they are period correct, matching, and in very nice condition. Also, I like that they have two bulbs to the Granada's one so I could have both a running AND a brake/turn IN the housing with separate bulbs. You can see in my pics I attached a small 8" LED strip along the bottom edge of the plastic for more rear 'see me' help for brake/turn. The back also looks very close to, or the same.

Oh - Yup! It was a 2022 Tacoma.

What about a 79-82 Mercury Capri tail light? They look pretty similar in shape/size.

The only real concern is fitting the '81 Granada rear properly. Other than that, I am quite flexible.

It looks like there are a couple of Granada specific tail lights on ebay. A couple other places to check are car-part.com and maybe scan row52 for a yard that has a Granada. There has to be something out there. I had a couple of hits on car-part, but no prices listed.

I think I have a set of Fairmont housings located. Thanks, Mike!
The eBay ones are lenses only and one of my housings is crunched.
    Appreciate the info folks!

I guess I'm confused, your Granada tail lights have a curve around the side of the car, but the fairmont lenses are just flat. You want something different than Granada lenses or just couldn't find any? I don't think the fairmont will be an easy swap without them curving around the car like your factory ones do.

That's why I figured the Capri lights would be a closer fit since they curve as well and we're made at the same time.

Capri ones might work. Like you mentioned they are more similarly shaped.

Looking at more pictures, it looks like the Mustang/Capri go too far down the side of the car. However, it looks like the 80-82 Cougar sedan and regular coupe are exactly like your granada lights. Here is a photo showing the shape, and the link where you can see more:

Quite a few of these on Ebay as well

Guy didn't exactly kill himself cleaning this up for the price he is asking, but this looks sound.

I could have sworn the other side was also listed when I looked yesterday, but I don't see it anymore.

Yeah, I saw those on eBay. Not just dirty, but look a little more far gone than I would prefer. Beggars can't be choosers of course.
I like the look of the cougar ones though. And the shape looks super close/same.

Anyone know if those from a 78 Monarch would fit? Found a nice pair in a boneyard still on the car. Well, someone else did and sent me pics.

From what I've been able to discern, the following should bolt directly on with the same dimensions, albeit with differing styles:

    81/82 Granada (duh)
    81 Cougar (non-xr7)

If anyone has any of those lying around, could you post pics (from, back, side) so I can compare? Or better yet if you have a pair you aren't using see my wanted ad...

There's no such thing as an '81 Monarch. It would be '81-82 Cougar (non-XR-7). Not common cars; I don't envy you!
