    Default 79 Clutch Adjustment Question

Last I drove my coupe I would slightly grind gears when shifting. It was like the clutch wasn't fully disengaging. While I have my car up in the air on my Quickjacks to replace my rack, I took a look at my clutch adjustment at the fork.

First thing I saw was the cable hanging out of the bellhousing mount due to the C-clip that holds it was missing. I found a C-clip and remounted the cable. The cable to the fork was extremely loose, so much so that it didn't take any effort to remove it from the fork. I tightened it up so that the cable was taught but exerting any pressure on the fork.

When I opened the door, I noticed the clutch pedal was 4-5 inches higher than the brake. Is this the normal height? I know they sit a bit higher in the turbo-4 and V8. It may the perspective of being 24" higher than on the ground made me notice it. It seems to have normal travel when sitting in the seat. I can't drive it until I complete the rack swap.

FWIW, the car was a carb turbo and now has a V8 & T5 swap and uses the stock cable and pedal box. Donor car was 82 Capri that came with the T5 installed so I don't know the origin of bellhousing or trans.

Thanks for the info. The mine looks like that. It must be since the car is 2 ft in the air that I am seeing it differently.
