Thread: Stripe Kit

    Default Stripe Kit

My 1979 Mercury Zephyr has factory pinstripe-type decals on the side. The car needs paint, but I'd love to have new decals for it. Does anybody know if there is a company or someone who can recreate something like that?

If you have trouble finding replacements, try painting them on, looks better

That guy actually had a white set on there but wouldn't unroll it for me to have a look at it. I bought it anyways just to see if it would work since white ones don't pop up too often.

I know that some of the Z-7's had wider stripes than the 4-door.
I used Trimbrite Striping purchased at O'Reilys on 3 cars that are not garaged or covered.
It has held up since 2007 or so with no complaints from me. It looks just like the original on my cars.
I used the multistripe 5/16". They do have the wider one that would be correct for the cars with the wider bottom stripe 7/16".
It is hard to find. Might have to do a search for it
If you buy an old Ford kit, the adhesive might not stick anymore since it is so old.
Lots of FREE F/Z info on my site.

Yes, my stripes are wide at the front of the fender where they go vertical and then get skinny when they turn to go horizontal. They look very "70's" which I love about them. I'll check out the stripes you mentioned, sounds promising!

I'm sure a few of you saw these photos on the FB F/Z pages but I figured I'd round out this thread with the NOS kit I bought off Ebay. I don't think I love it and will probably post it up for sale here or the F/Z pages for another Z7 owner. Those who haven't seen it, let me know what you think! The last photo is to show my factory strips.

I like the proposed new stripe kit. It is more bold and tougher looking than the original.
