take the door panel off and see what's happening when you hit the switch. I would be willing to bet the alignment bushings are bad. The regulator is all steel with plastic guides that age out.

I took it off ..flip the switch many times up and down nothing is happening. Was working right.

can you lift the window by hand with the motor removed? Is it setting square in the tracks? top should be level as the window is raised.

only thing I can figure is that when you put the motor in it is jamming the mechanism. The motor should run and stop all by itself when it gets to the stop.
I had an issue with mine that the window "stuck" down. I pulled the motor and it ran fine. Put the motor back in and it worked again????? I ended up replacing the motor channel guides and weatherstripping anyways and it works like new. Not sure what the problem was but it sounds almost identical to yours.
I would hook the motor up test it and if it works again put it back in. I know this is a more painful the bigger your hands are but... Otherwise i'm clueless. Sorry

Does the motor even try to drive the window up and down?
Is it possible the window bracketry is binding? Had a similar(manual) window problem on my '65.
Nope nothing i took motor out test it and it turns but when i put itback nothing .

Only thing that makes sense after reading and rereading.. The motor has something built in that stops it when the window is at a hard stop. The force required to move the window must be greater then the internal stop load can overcome. I would get another new motor and see what happens. LMR sells them for a decent price.

Found the culprit…a new bad window switch.
Thank to all who provided answers.

Becoming a more and more common problem. Never assume that a part is good because it is new.
