Default Quarter glass for 80 hatchback

Anyone know a supplier for these? Checked all the local glass shops but hard to find it appears. My sons car got broke into and they busted out the driver side.

I was thinking about possibly trying to warp in a thin piece of lexan temporarily. Anyone out there done this before or have any ideas or suggestions ?

    Thanks

I don't believe any one remanufactures the quarter glass at this time. You might be able to find a NOS piece from Green Sales or someone else. Otherwise most likely your best option would be a good used piece of glass. Unfortunately the quarter glass has a nice curvature to it so it is not a simple flat piece of glass. Yes you can probably get by with using a piece of Lexan temporarily, but you might need to use some heat to set the curve into the Lexan to help it fit properly.

Once the rear interior quarter panel trim is removed the quarter glass and mounting hardware is easy to get to for replacement or installing the Lexan. I am not sure how exactly you might get anything to seal properly without at least attempting to mount the replacement (temporary glass) without removing the interior trim. The original glass was sealed/installed with Butyl tape which can be purchased online or at most automotive paint supply stores. Good Luck!

Ok thanks. I see NPD shows replacements on their website but sold out. Have to wait until next week to see if any local glass shops can get anything.

Good point about the lexan. If I remember right it kind of relies on the rigid glass to hold tight to the body. Maybe if you can heat mold a thicker piece perfectly to fit. Sounds like more work than it’s worth. Probably going to need to get some glass somehow. I see eBay has some on there. Maybe that’s going to be the best and quickest option but no one is giving them away lol.

Yes, I remember NPD having some replacement for awhile there, but I haven't seen them available for some time now. Same with some other sites. It's possible you might be able to get a local automotive glass company to order the side quarter glass, but not 100% and I doubt it will be cheap either. Unfortunately as with many of the Four Eyed parts and pieces they are getting harder to come by and therefore the prices are creeping up as time goes by. That's why I have been unable to clear out my stash of parts until I know what I need for all of my project cars first. Hate to sell something and then discover I have to spend twice what I sold it for to buy it again.

Yep its a dilemma for sure to get rid of anything for these cars. I've went to my collection more than once to look for unobtainable parts and actually found a few !!

It seems you find out how rare certain parts are only when you really need them. Then your on the lookout to get any spares in the universe so you don't run into the same problem again haha.

No word yet from the glass shops.
