    Default Tbird trunk ??

Was wondering if there is a way to adjust the tension on the trunk lid of an 86 Thunderbird? The lid won't stay in the up position.
Also, is there an adjustment for raising the front edge of lid up when it's in the closed position? It's not level with the body.

I would post a pic if the site would let me, what am I doing wrong?

There are two torsion rods in the trunk that are springs to keep the trunk open. One may be missing, or you may be able to move one (or both) up to the next tension slot on the brackets. You'll have to climb in there to see what I'm talking about.

You can adjust the trunk by loosening the bolts that hold it to the hinge arms. There is movement in all 4 directions around the bolts to allow for adjustments.

Since none of us know how you're attempting to do it or what you're seeing on your screen, it's awfully hard to tell you what you're doing wrong.

I just found a picture of a 1981 Tbird trunk on the internet, downloaded it, and attached it to this post.

Here it is again, using a link to the site:

Either way, it's the same method that's been in use for years on this site (and the bazillions of other sites that use this software). Seems like it would be hard to do it wrong.

... and then what happens? When I do it, I click the "Insert Image" icon, select the "From Computer" tab, click "Choose file", select the file I want, then click "Upload file(s)". As soon as I do that, the {ATTACH]#######[/ATTACH} appears in the text entry box and when I submit the post the image is there. I've tested it here at work and at home, two different computers using two different browsers, and it works fine on both.

Maybe post in the Board Help & Test Forum to get some assistance?

Picture posting issues aside, the photo posted of the Box Bird trunk shows the same torsion spring lay out.

Make sure that both of the ends are secured into one of the notches on the bracketry by the hinges.
