First I believe Ford jumped from the 4G to the 6G for some reason. I am not 100%, but I don't believe any of the 6G alternators will fit the standard 5.0 alternator bracket. The mounting locations are very different. With all the options available in aftermarket 3G alternators, I don't see any benefits in trying to reinvent the wheel and use a 6G. You can easily source anything from 100amp to 200amp output and there are several companies offering conversion kits with all the pigtails, wiring, and instructions. Good Luck!

I am running a 4G on my 79 with the stock chassis wiring. It's a mod motor though so it wouldn't fit a windsor style. But electrically it works perfect so far.

Duh, confused with all this talk about cell phones.

Looking to upgrade to 3G. Found out the 1995 Mustang 5.0 has the one but it the large case 130 amp. Want the smaller case 95 unit.

    I got mine from PA Performance - https://www.paperformance.com/altern...ng/86-mustang/ .
They have a 130A 3G for $120, with an at idle output current of 80A (important for people that run big fans).
I got a 150A unit, with a silver powder coat. I have wet lands behind my house, and uncoated aluminum has a high tendency to "salt".

PA Performance also have top quality wire/fuse kits. I also used their wire/fuse kit.

    Good Luck!

I have used PA Performance for two of my Foxes. High quality and easy fit to the Foxes. Well worth the $$.
