I'd say 2760# is believable, maybe even a little high depending on how it's equipped. I weighed my '82 Z7 coupe (2-door, but not a box top) a couple/few years ago on the scale at the local metal scrap recycler. It was about 2850# - 6cyl, auto, power nothing, very basic car, about 3/4 tank of gas. I'm pretty sure I was in the car (~195#), because it's a drive-on scale and I don't remember getting out - I think I just drove on, looked at the number, and drove off.

Crazy light those boxtops by the looks of it.

Our 79 coupe with V6 weighed in at 1260 kg (2772 pounds) at a highway public scale. I thought that was light and didn't think anything else could be that close.

My 78 Boxtop started out as a zero option, 4 cyl. 4 speed, with manual steering and brakes, and before I turned it into a drag car, over 35 years ago, I weighed it to see what it was starting out as, and with 1/4 tank of gas, it was 2680 pounds, with no driver, but with the spare tire and jack. Now this was a very plain car, no side trim, bumper guards, radio, with just 1 mirror, (the Pinto style screwed to the door), no rear defogger, not even a day/night rearview mirror. I had several other Fairmonts, and a 79 Zephyr Z7, the heaviest was the Z7, with was a 302, auto, PS, PB car and it was right around 3000 pounds. One of my other boxtops had a 302, T5, and 8.8 rearend, and at the local dragstrip scales ,it weighed between 3240-3280, depending on how much gas was in the tank. (trunk was empty. When that car got rusty, I swapped all the runing gear into a 1980 Futura, and the diference between the 2 door sedan, and the Futura coupe, was right around 80 pounds.
