Thread: Weld question

  1. #1

    Default Weld question

I got some Draglites locally for a cheap price but one of the rears is bent bad so I planned to just replace it with another used one but I cannot tell if it is a 9" or 10" wheel. I wouldn't think a 10" wide rim with wider tires would fit but these are in there.

Is there a way to tell the size without removing the tire to measure it?

    Pic attached for reference.

You could probably get close with a small diameter rod and some help.

What size is the tire? It looks like an 8 to me

Take the wheel off the car. Deflate the tire.
Put the tire on a flat surface.
Put a straight-edge (a straight 2x4 will do) across the tire.
Measure the distance between the ground and the flat level straight-edge.
The width of the rim is often ~1" less than that wheel-lip to wheel-lip distance.

    Also, see below:

I willhave to look at the tire size...I grabbed a different set of rims over the weekend and stacked the welds for the moment. They are definitely not 8's though, either 9 or 10 for sure.
