    Default Resealing Cowl Halves

I took the top cover to the cowl off of my 1984 GT to make some rust repairs. From the factory there's a seam sealer between the two pieces and I'm wondering what product I should use during reassembly.

I plan to paint everything with an epoxy primer and top it with an enamel.

Forgot to mention I have a new tube of 3M Dynatron grey I bought planning to use on panel seams but I'm not sure if that's the product to use when putting the cowl back together and spot welding.

I am no longer in the autobody industry, so I am sure there are more options out there than I am aware of. I am sure 3M/Duramix has an option, but I just don't know any part numbers for you. In my experience most of the sealants are bonding adhesives that allow resistance welding before they cure. I have used the Lord Fusor brand for several years now and just recently on my wide body conversion for exactly what you are doing with excellent results.

You just have to pick the size and work time you need for your project. The large tubes require a special caulk gun that isn't crazy expensive, but still an added expense if you don't need it for future projects. The smaller tubes use a smaller gun that is much cheaper from what I recall. I buy the larger tubes as its a better deal and I bought the gun years ago for all my projects. Hope that helps and I am sure others will post some additional options. Good Luck!
