Default What is this trim piece called?

The trim at the top of the door. I believe these were on some 79 and maybe 80 only? Is there a name for this? I'm pretty sure it's not being produced, but I was trying to do a search. I'm also wanting to confirm what years/models they came on. My pace cars and my 79 cobra all have them. A buddy is needing one, so I'm trying to help him out. Thx!

Not sure of the name but it's not the dew wipe. That sits higher. The early cars had a flat chrome trim below the dew wipe.

Actually, I see my 84 GT vert has the trim in black. It runs the full width of the door. The dew wipe does not.

Yes, the early cars had them as well as the later convertibles. They are being reproduced but the originals are made out of aluminum and the reproductions are steel and will rust. You can also get the plastic sliding attaching clips. The barrel nuts were unavailable when I was looking several years ago but I think may be available now. However, I still wouldn't utilize them as it's a way for water to get down inside the door which will start the rust. I utilized a rubber firewall grommet that's water tight.

Great info. The guy needing one has a beautiful 79 cobra he restored to 100% original. I think this is the only piece he needs. Car is immaculate.

I think the repo I bought is still stashed away in storage...I wound up finding one on a parts car. It's for the passenger side door. May be a little much to ship but would let it go if I can find it. Is he needing a black or chrome unit?

and not black as w/the other fox era correct.

This piece will not work for us -'83/6 LTD/Marquis- either.
I will continue my search for the windshield piece and more (int/ext trim).

Just for some interest I'll cit 1 of my fav resources - auto-catelogue. Here are some state they list. Check them out for all sorta info on ur specific rig (tq curve, tire alternatives, etc). They don't have everything U need but sure have alot.
