    Default Oily intake

Good day all, I’ve begun the removal of my SVO engine today. It smoked on startup and while it ran great, seemed to be a little tired.

I noticed oil on the intake as shown in the picture. Is this blow bye or a leaky turbo. I plan on rebuilding both so it isn’t important, I’m just curious.

    Patrick -
It's probably from the PCV valve that is routed back into the intake. I've installed an oil catch can on a few and that fixes it.

Start up smoking is valve stem seals. Use 87-88 turbo coupe seals. Oil in the intake on the turbo 4's is very common.
