    Default Add power locks.

Anyone add power locks to an 84 GT?

My 84 GT vert was not optioned for power locks. It has most other options including power windows. The lock actuators are a simple bolt in. The wiring is present but the cut off the switch plugs and taped them to the door by factory. I would post pictures but no admin has responded to that problem for a few months now.

I checked for power at the cut wires but not seeing any. I believe the fuse is intact.

I'm inclined to just use a remote controlled relay and call it done. The lack of power has me lost on trying to make it work with the factory wiring.

I have a factory wiring harness. It plugs into the back of the fuse box.

The OEM lock actuators can be problematic. Personally I would add aftermarket actuators and a remote for keyless entry. That is the plan for my 82 GT and most others. I am about to add a keyless entry system to my 86 Bronco with factory PL, so I will see how that goes soon. Good Luck!

I will have to check to see if they removed the wire at the fuse box. I assumed it was present since the fuse was in place.

I was trying to keep the wiring simple and looking into Cyclops for the relay/remote.

I have a factory alarm/keyless entry but have not decided which car to put it on.

I agree! I'm on my second set.

I think the problem is that they are directly under the dew wipe. any wear or damage to the dew wipe puts water right on top of the solenoid and then it can travel into the electromagnet. The rubber seals on the solenoid don't do anything..
