AOD ought to fit the transmission tunnel fine. The driveshaft, on the other hand (just went thru this with my '86, where I kept the original C5 (a C4 with lockup convertor and valve body) and added a SBF into it) is a unique 3.8/C4/C5 combo of a driveshaft that's an inch too long, at 46.5", that I was previously unaware of. The driveshaft needs to be the common 45.5" (u-joint to u-joint centers) like all other Fox Mustang/Capri that I'm aware of. I had mine shortened the inch and re-balanced. Test/measure the length of yours first of course.

Will an AOD fit the stock trans tunnel ?
Did you read Walking Tall's post? The AOD was standard later in the fox platform and the floorpan did not change that much. I don't see any issues with putting an AOD in your car.
