    Default Can I use my existing driveshaft

    Got the driveline out of a 89 5.0L AOD Mustang. putting it in my 79 Zephyr. Will the driveshaft work ?

    Don't know - haven't done that.

    Having said that, probably not; the wheelbase of the Zephyr is 5-1/2" longer than the Mustang. If you still have the old Zephyr driveshaft you could compare the lengths.

    I ended up with (I think - it's been years!) an aluminum driveshaft out of an Explorer for my 460/C6 based install.

    Drive shaft from mustang is too short.
    I have used a 2000 Explorer V6 4 door aluminum drive shaft which is only a 1/4 inch longer than the F/Z one, but went back to the Zephyr one. The explorer one is much lighter but fatter around and on my set up it got too close to the mufflers so I went back to the Zephyr one. Your results may vary as no two cars are anywhere near the same.

    2016 Ford Focus ST 2.0 Ecoboost 6 speed
