    Default clutch assembly upgrade

Hey guys, I'm wanting to put a new clutch and adjustable cable assembly in my wife's 84 GT Turbo. Car is mostly stock, I've turned up the boost to 12lb and put a 2.5 exhaust system with a magnaflow muffler. Just want to order the correct parts because this one has the dog bone clutch cable and a regular cable. Is there a way to eliminate the dog bone cable? What is the best clutch for this car? Went to my local auto parts and was told it had a 10 inch clutch but after some research, I've found it's a 9 inch( is that correct?) Plan on doing more mods to this car after I check out some of the posts on this forum. What are some of the best bang for your buck mods?

I have had good luck with both Spec Clutches and Centerforce Clutches. They are really the only two I have been using for the past 15 years or so. There are other options out there, but they have never let me down, so I keep buying them when needed.

I believe the 9" clutch disc is correct for your model, but I would have to double check. Hopefully someone with more GT Turbo experience can confirm the correct size.

The 84 svo used a weak clutch. I believe upgraded it by 86. Ford Motorsport offered an upgrade that was a direct replacement. I put one on my 84 svo back about 92. The Motorsport catalog listed all the details. I believe it was a 10" from 86 but I don't have a catalog to confirm.

Same as 1985 1/2-86 SVO OE clutch assy.
Direct bolt on to 83-86 stock 2.3L turbo flywheel.

    Apps listed: 1983-86 T-bird/Cougar/Mustang/Mustang SVO w/2.3 turbo.

    M-7550-A221 9" hd disc (1 1/16" dia 10-tooth input spline).
M-6375-A221 9" flywheel for hd clutch assy upgrade 1979-82 2.3L, same as 1983-86 stock 2.3L turbo flywheel.

Have had good service with stock hd versions in stock truck and car from Ford catalog and aftermarket auto chain store.
Noted LUK stamps on the parts.

Cannot comment on 'dog bone' anything. Neither 2.3L i drive uses them. 79 Mustang 2.3t is all cable, 93 Ranger 2.3 is hyd.
