    Hey all,

I found this site a while back but had forgotten about it. There are some downloadable manuals and such.

The 79-88 4190/4195 carb is different in detail to the 83-84-85 4V 5.0.

Ford let out a contract to Holley to supply a smog legal carb replacement for the old Motorcraft 4350. The website is very good though. The key differences are the four corner idle, a different Vacuum Operated Throttle Modulator, an AC wide open throttle eliminator, and no AOD/C6 downshift attachment. The throttle body is subtly different and the EGR and vacuum take offs vary. Holley supplied the carbs for certain Chevy 350 and 454 trucks as well.

As long as you are aware of that, then the details are a great help. I believe there was a 1979 429 version for one year or so in the bigger F trucks with the Holley 4180C carb. July 1979 might have made it a 1980 model. The little Holley 2380EG was used in the 370 cube 2V Luma Big Block F 700 Carpenter buses as well, with the 370 4V truck F 150/250/350 carb an option. The variations are a true minefield to the unwary.

Gosh FoMoCo did a HUGE amount of work keeping the 4V alive. It's a great carb, but way more complicated with its bowel vents and two stage power valves and complicated lean cruise well tubes!
