I have been working away on rebuilding/modifying the Saleen style side skirts to fit the wide body. Lots of structural urethane, filler, etc. to make the fit and look decent. Haven't taken many pictures as it is not much to look at. I have had to lengthen the skirts and change the angle on the ends due to the flares. Finally have them just about ready for some primer and hopefully final sanding. I have also been tweaking the Cervini 91-93 front air dam to fit the 86 GT front bumper cover. Definitely not a bolt on and took lots of cutting and fitting to make it work. Glad the bumper cover was a wrecked/trashed unit as I would hate to cut up a good GT front cover. Hope to have some pictures of the whole car with the complete aero package installed and looking semi-decent before primer to show soon.

While waiting for urethane, filler, etc. to cure I decided to sound deaden the hatch of the car. This is 80mm sheets that should help to lessen the tin can effect of the Four Eyes without adding too much weight. I need to drop the headliner for the new material and do the under side of the roof as well as the front passenger compartment, but that will have to wait until the body work and paint is done.

I didn't spot them, but did you reinforce the upper torque boxes before the material was laid down?

No I did not. I personally don't ever reinforce the torque boxes in my Mustangs. For one, I don't drag race, and second I run Maximum Motorsports lower control arms and stock uppers on all of my stock style suspension Foxes. This particular Fox is running a 2003 Cobra IRS in the back so the upper torque boxes are not utilized.

    Interesting project

ill have to share some pictures of the way Autokraft in Lincoln NE went about doing wide body back in the day. Most of the metal added was at the bottom of the panel basically. Things were cut loose and pushed out then supported in place from behind as I recall

looks like a good use for scrap Saleen side skirts

will be cool when it is done

First set of quarters I have ever flared like this so it was a learning experience to say the least. Definitely would know better if there ever was a next time, but don't really plan on that. The next WIDE BODY after this will be using my Tom Gloy body parts to build the SCCA Trans Am/IMSA tribute/replica. This Mustang was to finally use the Maier Racing front flared fenders that have been sitting around for almost 20 years at this point. Now they are mounted on a car and hopefully will be final sanded before the end of the month and painted shortly there after. Time for this car to hit the road and clear out space in my garage.

Finally had a weekend to work in the shop and get something done on the GT. Its back on 4 wheels and off the stands. Moved it outside to clean and reorganize the disaster area I call a garage and took a couple of pictures. The front aero package is only held on by hardware in a couple of locations so none of that is the final fitting. Just wanted to be able to actually step back and get a look at it. Still need some tweaking of the rear quarters to be happy, and look likes I need to adjust the doors just a bit for better molding alignment. Overall not too bad, shouldn't take more than another 6 months worth of sanding and primer to be ready for paint. I also definitely need to adjust the passenger side rear coil over at it is sitting low on that corner. Also going to need to probably do some grinding on the strut tower opening to get maximum adjustment on the passenger side front strut too. Oh well, project cars are never done.

    It will be Silver.

Yes, it's a 2021 Bronco. I picked it up in November, it's my new DD. Was nice to retire my 2004 PSD F250 4x4 as my DD. Especially now with the cost of fuel.

Thanks! I am glad the plan is for silver paint since the flares are not perfect. They are pretty good, but still not perfect. I am a pretty decent body guy, but not the best metal shaping/forming guy out there. I guess if I had some formal training I might be a bit better, but anyway, they are done I will do some final tweaking of body lines and block sanding and hopefully have it painted sooner rather than later. I am ready to just drive the car rather than sand on it anymore.

This arrived yesterday. Probably won't install until the paint and bodywork are done, but got it on sale so had to finally pull the trigger on the Magnaflow IRS exhaust setup.

I’d love some feedback on the exhaust. Looks like polished pipes from the mufflers back?

Will do! I have been looking at this one for awhile. Found a 20% off code and ordered it. If I like it I will need another one for my Pace Car too.

Finally making some progress on this one after a year of medical crap! Amazing how much more work you get done when not dealing with a heart issue.

I will try and get some pictures posted later today of where the car is at. I have to download them off my phone first. It's amazing what some color will do for a car!

Picked these up for the interior. Obviously Black is not normally a color option for 1986, but since the car was Aeroed by the previous owner and has the Aero interior, I am doing what I can with what I have. Interior will be a combo of Scarlet Red and Black. Not my favorite, but at least a bit different. I think once, I get it all done it will look pretty decent. I would prefer a true 1985/86 interior, but I have too many projects left to work on to rip out a perfectly functional interior and restore it back to the original style dash, etc. Besides it will be something different for me, since I never driven an Aero for more than a few weeks in my lifetime. I have a full seat delete kit ready to go and my Redline Goods steering wheel cover for the SVO steering wheel and horn pad as well as shifter boot and Ebrake boot is supposed to be arriving today!

Thanks! Progress has slowed a bit since the weather got colder. Hopefully have it back in the garage this weekend once I clear out some additional space and can get some interior work done so I can install the front and back glass. Then I need to wrap up the final paint work and trim and it should be ready for final assembly.
