    Default Motor install alignment issue

Moved the full drive train from 82 Mustant GT (engine, tranny, driveline and rear end) to a 82 Capri RS. The setup seems to sit forward about an 1/2-3/4 inch. This prevent me from installing the sifter and shift mechanism.

This is replacing a crate 306 and tremec 5 speed.

Using stock motor mounts that came with the 83 motor.

    Any suggestions?

Default one tunnel mod for access to front T-5 shifter bolts

Updated car a while ago from a four speed to T-5.
Had same issue when updating the stock T-5 shifter assy to a much better one.
The stock engine and trans were in the correct location and left there, no mods.
The early year four speed floorpan tunnel was not cut out enough to access 5 speed front shifter bolts.
Metal was easy to cut accurate enough with yellow handle Wiss straight cut snips pictured.
The black gunk is butyl tape used to reseal the rubber boots.

If you use solid (or lower) motor mounts, it will act as a teeter and raise your transmission (tailshaft/ shifter) and will end up tight against the tunnel. I always thought the fox manual shifter was too far forward to line up in the shifter opening. With it right against the tunnel, those front shifter bolts are a pain to get to. You can trim or maybe lift the engine a bit to clear enough room to slip a wrench in there. A floor jack with a block of wood under the front of the pan should do the trick

Everything was stock in the 83 (302, 5 speed) I would have thought it would have bolted right up in the 82. I can cut if I need to but just want to make sure I am not missing something.

Every manual fox I've owned has been like this. I'm not sure why. It's not just the early cars, either. My 88 was the same way.
