    Default Header Recommendations?

    Hello All,

Converting my 85 GT with manual trans to true dual exhaust with H-pipe. 2.5" system. Need ideas on reasonably - priced headers. I'm not against used stuff; I just want to make sure I don't buy the absolute wrong thing.

I do know I don't want long tubes. The heads are World Products Roush 200s.

    What say ye?

If you can find a used set of Ford Racing or FRPP headers, that's what I would do...and did do on mine. I don't know why Ford quit making them, that's why you'll have to go the used route...

I don't want to lose any low-end torque.

Are you just doing exhaust? Any induction upgrades? If none, then yes, just use shorties. They're all about the same performance-wise. The only real differences will be flange thickness (how well they seal to the head), and ball flange quality (how well they seal to the H/X-pipe), then of course material (mild or stainless), and painted/chrome/polished/ceramic/etc.

For big HP I would go with these:

I currently have Hooker Procomps 6132HKR on my car which were a bargain price when I bought them at around $200 several years ago but for some reason they are $360 now!?! Not sure what happened LOL

I found the BBK non-equal shorts to be more than enough for a mild type motor.

I've done alot of header combinations, in hindsight I would go with the BBK equal length shortys.
