Default 1979 Cobra and Adding a Console

Hi all. I'm new to Foxbodies and just recently purchased a 79 Cobra. It came with a console; however, was not originally equipped with one. None of the wiring is there to hook it up.

I would like to use factory connectors and etc (I like making things as OEM as possible). Is there a harness available that I could buy? I assume others have done this but could not find any search results.

    TIA

Adding the full console with the information center is going to be a huge task as the wiring is integrated into the dash harness. I don't believe there is a stand alone harness that will allow you to just plug and play. You can definitely still add the console and the info center, but getting everything to work properly will take some electrical work that honestly drives me crazy. Heck most of the time, I yank the info center out and install aftermarket gauges for better reading on the engine instead of the OEM setup. Good Luck!

Same. You can buy aftermarket gauge panels that fit nicely. They come in a 2 or 3 gauge setup. Much more useful, in my opinion.

Thanks a lot guys. I'll keep an eye out for a parts car, because I need some other things anyway. Will just try to get another harness. Appreciate your replies!

AirborneRanger I am in the process of doing the same thing as you are. Its alot of work but can be done. I do have factory Ford Manuals that have the pins on the harness and which pin is hot, ground, switched and what accessory etc. goes on the information center and clock. I can PDF them and send them to you. just PM me your email address.
