Notch with a luggage rack

Around twenty years ago I bought an '86 notchback for my son as a project. I paid $75 for a complete 4 cylinder car with a locked up engine. In 2012 he was killed and I got the car back. Now I want to start the process again for my 11 year old grandson. It has a luggage rack on the trunk lid that appears to be factory. The rack was complete at one time but now I'm missing the end caps and bar. The question I have is was this part of an options package? I've never seen another notchback with one.

Maybe somebody put a 87-93 vert lid on there.

I thought of that but the luggage rack is different from the one on my '91. I've tried to upload a picture but can't get it done.

If it has the third brake light it is at least a 86 or later lid, if they did not delete it for a notch application.

Not original from the factory. Luggage rack was only on 1986 and newer convertibles.

It was available on earlier notchback coupe models. This was my 84 coupe, picture taken circa 1987. So maybe someone swapped it out. Happened a lot because the trunk lids corroded fairly easily.

It was not a factory option. Maybe a dealer accessory/option. But not factory.
